  • high-density units

If I'm understanding the article correctly, this all just comes down to Huntington Beach trying to protect existing housing zoning, where the state is trying to get zoning changed to build a lot of more units in the same area; high-density.

  • When we finally figure out and understand, in a real world mechanical sort of way, quantum mechanics, all bets will be off.

It'll open up a new perspective on the Universe (dare I say Metaverse?), and where we fit in with everything.

  • FYI I’ve found that if you download a text expander it allows you to make shortcuts for these kinds of texts making it much easier to add automatically.

Nice! Yeah I used my phone's text feature to send myself a text one time, and then just long-press on the text to copy the message and long-press in the Lemmy editor to paste the text.

My phone actually has a copy and paste memory feature of some sort, but i only see it when I copy, I don't see anything when I try to paste (only the last thing in the buffer that was last copied is pasted).

  • From the article...

Sources pointed to no evidence of coordination between the two countries.

So both of them are basically fucking around on their own volition, which actually makes it feel a little bit worse, as it feels like anyone can just take pot shots at us now, with no fear in doing so.

    Also from the article...

“Other adversarial nations know that it is relatively easy and, frankly, cheap to try to interfere in our election,” Sen. Mark Warner, a Democrat who chairs the Senate Intelligence Committee

  • Thanks for the reply.

Data/B4/Lore were all partitioned in the same positronic brain that was in a “new” Data body.

And Lore and Data had an internal fight over the body.

That seems unusual, that one positronic brain can handle all three of those at once, but it sounds like a potentially interesting episode.

I feel bad for B4, sounds like he'd be way out classed by the other two.

Also you really should give Strange New Worlds a try at least.

I might if it ever comes to a service that I have a sub to where I can see it.

But fundamentally, I'm kind of a 'substance over style' type of person, and all the new Nu Trek stuff seems like all style and all amateurish storytelling retcon, no world building/lore substance.

I kind of feel like that if the writers can't respect the lore and the world building in the Star Trek shows that came before them, and only doing them lip service later on when they're desperate and pandering for viewership, then they're not respectful of me or my viewing time, and hence not worth my effort to 'engage' (pardon the pun).

But I will keep an eye out for Strange New Worlds, and if I see an episode on cable/streaming service, I'll check it out. I've seen some shorts on YouTube, and it peaked my interest a little bit.

  • However, it’s also not very common that you have a candidate and ex-leader being in court.

I'm not saying don't cover it at all. Its historical, for sure.

I'm just saying don't cover JUST THAT and nothing else.

  • Can confirm, my WoW crashing problem is gone since doing so. At least, I changed two settings, not just the one mentioned (see below).

I had updated my BIOS version recently, and the ‘Above 4G Decoding’ and ‘Resizable BAR Support’ was turned off, instead of inheriting the previous BIOS version setting of them being turned on previously.

  • I never said you did. I was just saying that eating some Costco sold food that you have to prepare in your own home would be preferable than eating fast food 24/7.

You keep acting as it as if those are the only 2 options (3 home cooked or 3 fast food).

I'm talking about overall which scenario is healthier/better to be eating, outside food versus home cooked food, specifically what ingredients each uses and how each one is prepared.

So either you’re presenting a false dichotomy or you’re responding to something I didn’t say. Your framing is too binary and doesn’t reflect reality.

You're misinterpreting what I'm saying, and missing the overall point being made.

It's not a quantity issue in and of itself, it's which of the two scenarios you choose whenever you want to eat.

  • EDIT: As discussed above, turning on ‘Above 4G Decoding’ and ‘Resizable BAR Support’ settings in my BIOS fixed the problem.

I had updated my BIOS recently, and the ‘Above 4G Decoding’ and ‘Resizable BAR Support’ was turned off, instead of inheriting the previous BIOS version setting of them being turned on.

Does anyone know why OW2 may be crashing on Arch? I thought it was just me, but I went to protondb and saw more reports. The only solutions I found from historical crashing non-Arch related was for nVidia users, but I’m on AMD.

Any clue why it may be? And, more importantly, what the solution may be?

It crashes shortly after starting if that helps.

Not sure if its related, but throwing this reply your way, just in case.

WoW has been crashing for me too last couple of days, consistently. Launched via Battle.net launcher.

Its weird, but the only way I can get it to not crash is by letting the first WoW session crash on startup, NOT closing the exception error message dialog or the report the crash to Blizzard dialog, and then start up a second session of WoW. That second session plays fine.

I had played first session WoW normally for a week, then stopped to have lunch one day, and when I came back from lunch and started up WoW again, this crashing crap had just started.

I tried using Bottles (both native and flatpak), Lutris, and Steam. The 'run twice' trick is being done on Steam (native not flatpak) using experimental. Using Fedora/KDE spin.

Not sure where to report this 'bug' to on the Internet. Any ideas?

  • There is no such onus. If you don’t want to go through a paywall, feel free to find an alternate source.

Again, not my job to find an alternative source. If someone is posting about an article, the article should be readable, and not be behind a paywall. Don't waste people's time posting news about articles that they cannot read, because its behind a paywall.

Or maybe mark them as such, as part of the title, at the very least, so that someone can not bother to click on the post link if they know they can't get to the article that the post is about because its behind a paywall. Or supply an alternative non-paywalled link as part of the summary.

That's the onus I'm speaking of, being able to actually get to the article the post is talking about. Don't waste another's time.

  • People who have time to cook will. Many low income families are 24/7 parenting and working with little extra time. Cooking 3 squares is just not going to happen.

But the bottom line is, at the end of the day, for practically everyone, eating home cooked meals is going to be better for them, than just sustaining off of fast food meals from outside 24/7.

I never said anything remotely like it’s better to do fast food 24/7

I never said you did. I was just saying that eating some Costco sold food that you have to prepare in your own home would be preferable than eating fast food 24/7.

  • I’d love to know how to get a refund. I’ve tried 4 times with different prompts suggested in forums and comments. It is in fact worse and not equal to the state it was in at launch.

    Try asking again for one.

That video I linked was stating they were now doing refunds. I haven't tried it, since I don't own the game (didn't like the root level access crap). But I've also read elsewhere that at first they were not doing refunds but they changed their minds and now they are.

Not saying you're wrong in some cases, but I buy these pre-cooked meals at Costco, where all you have to do is heat them in a pan/oven and serve, then they're quick to do (and I'm a horrible cook to boot).

But I get it, it comes down to how much money you have, and how much time you have to spend to make how much money that you have.

But the bottom line is, at the end of the day, for practically everyone, eating home cooked meals is going to be better for them, than just sustaining off of fast food meals from outside 24/7.
