  • They would also note that in order to enact these tariffs without involving Congress he has to invoke a “national emergency”, which is the only reason why he’s suddenly all about stopping fentanyl.

This was actually new news to me, and I watch the news every night. Thanks for sharing this!

I was imagining scenarios where people were free-basing maple syrup or something.

  • From the article...

According to KPBS, US Customs and Border Protection accused Brösche of planning to violate the terms of the visa waiver program by intending to work as a tattoo artist during her time in Los Angeles.

    ... and ...

Lofving said she asked Ice agents if Brösche could be sent back to Mexico, but they responded that her lack of legal residency would mean she would be deported back to Germany. Lofving also said she tried to get help from the German consulate in Los Angeles.

  • That it doesn’t feel like a culture at all, that you have to adopt. There’s genuine discussion,

  • Apologies for saying this, but if I'm being completely honest about it, it's more of what I hate less about the Lemmy culture, than I do the Reddit culture. The lesser of two evils kind of thing.

On the plus side, it does seem like it has less corporate censorship than Reddit does.

  • The boiling toad in the pot scenario is a real danger, but I think things would come to a head before that.

The last few times this happened, it didn’t.

I think we're marking "would come to a head" at different places on the scale.

  • but if you get distracted from the conversation if someone accidentally pulls it in a quote

Well, I'm not a mind reader, and if I had to guess if it was purposeful, or accidental, based on my history here on Lemmy, I'll consider it purposeful every time.

we’ve now had 3 posts revolving around it, and still no answer to the original question.

Actually I responded, while you were typing your comment. I just wanted to do it in a separate comment, to segregate the two issues being discussed.

  • lemmy guess, single-issue voters

No, according to one of them they thought the country needed fixing, and he's the one to do it. Wrong direction, pricing, that sort of thing.

I think they were religiously anti-woke, but didn't want to come out and say it straight.

Funny enough, they were one of those who does missionary work. I plan on asking them again after the USAID changes filters down and affects people more forcefully.

  • I noticed you edited your comment, removing you quoting of my license, which is what I was asking about, you responding to the license, and not to the comment.

    I appreciate the edit.

P.S. Love the user name. Nice play on words with Dune involved.

  • I personally know Christians who voted for Trump (yeah I know, but bear with me) that would care very much, as they actually do missionary work overseas to help the kind of people that would be affected by this cancellation.

    lemmy guess, single-issue voters

Any response from you about my mentioning how some Christians also care? ...

  • Personally I think you should put an explanation in your bio.

Actually I have the CC license info/link in my bio as well.

But, I don’t think you’re obligated to do so.

If people ask me with honest intent I would be responding in kind and explain it, gladly. But that is not been my experience here on Lemmy.

So I don't know why I should put myself through that kind of trolling from others, again, again, and again, under the guise of trying to educate someone on what a CC license is, who most likely already knows, or by a bot starting a brigade cycle.

I know that's a cynical view, and I hate stating what I just did, but I feel that I truly earned the right to that cynical opinion, as that's what the vast majority of my experiences have been here on the Lemmy, both ten months ago, as well as currently.

The irony is that if someone just clicks on the link in my footer it'll take them to a page of the license that also explains what the Creative Commons license is, so they really don't need me to explain it, they could just click on the link I've already supplied.

I do appreciate your kind words and civil discussion, and suggestions, thank you for that, sincerely.
