  • I put a 55 inch 4k tv on my desk. Essentially within literal arm's reach, and I think it's very similar to a theater.

Great for work from home jobs, or just watching movies or YouTube.

  • hybrid/electric cars already do it with regen braking.

Not all of them. It is becoming more common, but for a while Hyundai and Kia didn't do this, and I know my older Ford doesn't.

Probably just in the US, since brake lights are only required when pressing the brake pedal. Mercedes illuminates them but then turns the brake lights off once the vehicle comes to a stop using regen.

  • Faster blink is already used to indicate that one of the lights is burned out. It's a consequence of the mechanical part that operates (used to operate) the blinking; less resistance caused by a burned out light means it blinks faster

  • In the US about 5-10% of people are "self-employed" and have access to all their pre-tax income.

Essentially a single employee business, they are required to withhold their own taxes from their earnings, including the employment taxes normally paid by the employer, etc. which is an additional 15.5% on top of the progressive income tax.

Aside from that, in the US there are forms you fill out at the beginning of employment which determine how much is to be withheld. While they can be updated at any time, it's not always done promptly. Divorce or death of a dependant child could increase how much is withheld.
