  • Also, despite how much Trump wants to pretend he's a dictator, he's not. Both Congress and the Supreme Court have the power to stop this tariff idiocy at any point if the consequences get to be too bad. Xi is actually a dictator and the likelihood of any other power base overriding him is slim to none.

  • A large percent of the population tunes out when you talk about real problems. They don't understand them or don't want to think about them. They'll still have some fun making fun of a billionaire who so pathetically craves nerd cred that he'll cheat at a video game. Now every time Musk does something, one of the top 3 comments, even in non-left spaces, will be people making fun of him for cheating in POE2. It exposes him as a sham and undermines the air of competence he tries to convey.

Is it stupid and shallow? Yes, but so are most people.

  • Perhaps you should ask why people didn't give a shit when the US was supporting SA in Yemen but suddenly cared deeply when it was lose-lose for Democrats. Why did Netanyahu refuse to sign a ceasefire until after the election? Why was no one calling Trump Genocide Don back when SA was bombing Yemen or now that he's announced plans to ethnically cleanse Gaza?

As for what I'm doing, I have zero desire to rehash the same script again and again.

  • This is what people need to be concentrating on. The cost of the government borrowing shot up 13% in a couple of days. This stupid fiasco just cost the government $70B in yearly interest payments alone and is why Trump backed down.

  • Huh, let me check the ballot again. Nope, Netanyahu was not on it in 2024. It doesn't look like he got a single vote.

I did find 2 candidates who both wanted to remain allied to a rather odious country known for human rights abuses and bombing large numbers of civilians. I'm talking about Saudi Arabia, of course.

  • And then he knee jerked in the opposite direction and shut down everything everywhere instead of targeting where it was needed or just doing what epidemiologists had been suggesting from the beginning and concentrating on masks, testing, contact tracing, and quarantining. All of which caused a supply crunch and fed into inflation.

  • And real gorditas are nothing like the taco bell version. They got their name because they're a smaller but much thicker tortilla, similar to an arepa, split down the middle and stuffed with meat.
