I know there has been some political controversy around them lately, and that for email Tuta is recommended over Proton Mail—I do mention both of these facts in DISENGAGE: Opting Out—and Finding New Options—to Reclaim Your Life from Spammers, Scammers, Intrusive Marketers and Big Tech, which I'm trying to promote through the infographic. But overall I've been happy with Proton's suite of products as compared to the relevant Google products.

I use ProtonVPN and have to turn it off to log into my bank, credit card, and other financial institutions. Also I seem to have to do a lot more Captcha puzzles than I used to, and have had online orders flagged as suspicious. in some cases, it seems like they're just trying to protect your accounts. In others, it seems like they're throwing a hissy fit because they feel they have a God-given right to your private data.

I've been thinking of creating a free class to go along with my (also free) book DISENGAGE: Opting Out—and Finding New Options—to Reclaim Your Life from Spammers, Scammers, Intrusive Marketers and Big Tech...which seems to mesh nicely with what you're doing...except I'm US-based. If you get your nonprofit started, let me know if you might be interested in hosting the class! I planned for weekly readings/assignments, a group chat, and maybe weekly formalized chats or cslls.

Yes, I'm one of them, haha! It would be great to have Linux or a privacy OS...though I haven't found a privacy OS I think will be any good.

Hmm...I'd say solutions for people who are not as tech savvy, and how to implement them. Even things as simple as how to change your default browser and search engine, suggestions for different OS's and how to install them on any kind of computer, different options for Microsoft software, etc. For example, I'm on a Mac just because it's still good and I don't want to pay for a new one...I'd love either some simple ways to "harden" it and/or install Linux.

BUT...your audience is obviously more tech savvy and that's OK too! I think we need info for all levels.

I recently signed up for an account on a VPN with a throwaway address, as usual—I torch my account every few months and start a new one—and was almost instantly shadowbanned. This may have been due to other factors, though...like the fact I posted a question in the mason bees sub? :D

As you can see, the book is aimed more at newbies (and people with low-medium level tech knowledge) like myself.

Thanks! That's an alias account. Normally I'd use a masked email, but for the press I wanted something a bit more pro looking. If it starts getting spam, it's easy to delete/change.
