  • I'm also autistic and I have tried saying yes to things, but I just don't enjoy it.

Friends are mainly just extra effort that I don't have the time or energy for. I have one, and my dogs, and I don't feel I need anything more than that.

Now I just work from home and only have to see coworkers every six months or so for an office visit. It's pretty great.

Whilst I respect your experiences, they're not a universal truth for everyone.

  • Just spending time with them without drinking? It's not a difficult concept. Why do you require alcohol in order to interact with others?

But why do I need to spend time with others at all? Work is for working, I don't go to work to make friends or socialise.

  • No, I'm well aware that Unity's model is fucked up.

I'm just saying that I don't consider Unreal a valid alternative, especially as it's owned by Epic who have shown themselves to be far worse than anything Unity has done already, and there are no other 3D engines as good as Unity. I called out Unreal also just because people are saying that Unity shouldn't charge any fees as they think fees are unfair, but then happily recommend Unreal.

Not saying necessarily to keep using it, I'm just saying it's not as simple of a solution as just switching for a lot of devs.

  • As someone in their 20s who detests that kind of thing and wouldn't ever say yes, what's the reasoning behind saying yes?

Drunk people are awful, and going out is loud and annoying. Is it just that it's a good skill to be able to do things that make you miserable?

  • No, I doubt it. Because they wouldn't keep it true to the originals. They'd change the characters and the story and cut out sections and add in new things and replace the combat and make it fundamentally not the same game anymore. Especially when it's not being made by the original makers.

Also, graphics aren't a selling point for me in games.

  • Damn, our hardware is so similar. I'm running a (single) 7900 XT and a 7600X. I'm also running on an nvme ssd, but presumably with your hardware you are too.

I wasn't trying to be an ass with my question about your specs, it's just that my hardware isn't particularly high end, so I was confused at why so many people are having performance issues.

  • To be fair to Starfield, if you're playing on the recommended hardware it runs incredibly well. I'm running a 7900xt and a Ryzen 7600X and the lowest fps I have with everything on ultra at 1440p is 80, don't need any mods.

Edit: also Diablo 4 sucks because they turned it into another MMO with a battlepass that nobody wanted.

  • Logically this is a solid move for them, but I always hate to see more games on Unreal. Consolidation of the industry into one engine is not good overall, and any company that still works with its own engine I have a lot of respect for.
