Because capitalists have had an effective propaganda campaign to make them think "made in the USA" is good. It don't mean shit. We need the union label back.
I ask because you seem to have a very different definition of what socialism is from me because everything you're describing is just social welfare. For example, I an Anarchist (syndicalist, if you want to get technical), could be considered a 'socialist' as my ideology would have governance under a federation of industrial unions. No president, no electroeal college, no leaderism. I ask again, what do you consider "socialism" to be?
You skipped over the part where he says "You think I own this business? You think I own IKEA?" implying he would care if he actually had any skin in the game which he would if his job operated as a worker co-op.
Actual workers. If we made a society where people are taken care of, we'd find most folks would be enthusiastic about their work. Saying "people don't want to work" is often taken at face value when the reality is that most people do want to work, because it helps them feel a sense of purpose. They don't, however, want to be exploited/work under capitalism because that is soul crushing.
That's a pretty valid reason, I'll have to look into it more as I already created an account on .ml. While I do call myself an anarchist/communist, I don't zealously jump at the defense of a government without nuancing the situation.
We can be if it makes your experience better!! Watch!
