  • I feel good that eventually I will die, and I haven't left any children behind to suffer through what will come.

I actually get very sad when I think about the kids that my friends have. We've got a tough road ahead, and it's only getting tougher.

I still try not to make the problem worse and even improve things where possible, but it's hard not to feel defeated.

  • Subtext: now that we have the market share, it's our turn to exploit the users.

    It's sick.

  • Under AUD$2 to AUD$34 is quite the leap, and more than double what I anticipated.

I was very happy to drop AUD$10-15, and I'm aware that what I paid in 20 dickity 13 was a steal.

Quadrupled app costs would have been a bargain in my eyes.

  • I understand that I got a magnificent deal on Reddit Sync - I think it was on sale at the time.

I was ready to happily drop $15 on the ad free, but this is more than double that.

  • Yep, I had my credit card out (figuratively) and was ready to buy the ad free version, just to support the dev - but I turned right around when I saw the price (AUD$34).

I don't see ads either, it was literally just about the support for me. I'm weighing up whether to go back to Connect on principle, and if Adguard stops working on Sync, I'll definitely just walk away.

  • To be fair, we are on a beta version!

Overall, mine has been working fairly smoothly.

I'm still weighing up whether to continue using Connect though, for a few reasons.

  • Crying in $34 Aussie dollaydoos.

A bit of a surprise; I know I was lucky to get the old Sync pro app for under $2 a decade ago, but wow.

  • Connect is free and fantastic, and the dev(s) are adding new features regularly. I'm a bit torn, as I loved Sync for Reddit and was happy to give my money again for Sync for Lemmy - just not quite that much of it.

  • I didn't see the option at all last night. This morning the app updated, and now I see the remove ads option.

  • I'm having the opposite issue; my read posts have to be manually hidden, and then pop back into view when I reopen the app!

ETA: another comment in another post helped me resolve this. You need to login to the website of your instance and update your settings to uncheck "show read posts".

Connect was hiding them in-app, and I'm sure LJ will do the same soon, but for anyone looking for a fix now - that will do it!

  • I'm seeing AUD$35 $33.99.

I paid AUD$1.91 ten years ago for "reddit sync pro" (I believe it was on sale).

I was expecting to pay around $10-$15 to block ads, so this is a bit of a shock.

  • This quote is just absolutely balls on head ridiculous. I can't believe he said this with sincerity.

"Yes, you pea-brained fool, that's entirely correct - if someone is involved in a sex act against their will, that is a bad thing."

Do these people just have zero morals? It terrifies me that there are people walking around with these sorts of mindsets.

  • Some people wear a padded bra for comfort, not looks. Ironic that you use the word "pointless", because the padding helps with.. points. So it can actually be quite practical.

Likewise, the numpad can be more about comfort, even for a little ol admin/service person. I use both sets of number keys depending on - well, I'm not sure, just whatever feels right.

  • I switched over what probably was a small thing, but is big to me.

I like to have my tabs in a list, and google enforced the grid and kept breaking ways to put it back to list.

Once they blocked me from being able to revert, that was it.

I still use it on my work machine as I find the syncing works beautifully, important as I have need to swap between desktop and laptop occasionally, and there are other desktop features I enjoy.

But as for mobile - I am done.

I adored the fox when I used Mozilla everything back in the day, so it's like coming home.

  • Look, ma, I'm participating!

    So stoked for Lemmington Syncings.

  • Maybe mine have less bloat because I'm in Australia, maybe I don't consider some of the apps to be bloat, not sure - but I've had Samsung's since the S2 and I've always been content with my phones.

I have definitely found the software to be improved over the years, and I love that I can customise the colours of every element down to hyperlinks in my text messages, all using their Theme Park app from their funny little app store. They also have a few other decent apps to change around the notification bar icons and things like that.

I'll definitely be sticking with Samsung as long as all of these things keep going in a happy direction.
