  • Look at the boxes outside the back of the restaurant.

Any decent restaurant will be cooking a fair bit of their food, even if they’re using Restaurant Supply’s fried chicken mix.

Applebee’s potato skins you probably can’t get directly because it’s probably only available to franchisees. But with some digging you might be able to buy a skid of the generic stuff from the manufacturer.

Once, I got a box of frozen microwaveable dessert. We ate so much… every day… it was a big box.

  • Tesla shares rose

As if somehow his involvement at Tesla is a good thing.

If they could build a car that competes with BYD and other Chinese manufacturers in cost, it might be worth a fraction of its current value, but they cannot. Their cars are aging, the tech isn’t leading edge anymore, and they haven’t demonstrated that they have learned how to move from design to production without a huge on-ramp. Their PE should be lower than Ford or even VW.

  • Texas also has a maternal mortality rate is worse than the next two states combined.

You must have the baby, but under no circumstances will care be provided for baby or mother.

  • It’s going to hit GM and Ford who are set up to build cars in Canada and USA. The cars they make in US rely on a global supply chain. It’s going to fuck every carmaker in the US market. Hyundais and Chevys are going to go up in price 30% overnight with the metal tariffs on top of all that.

  • I had an agent spike CPU on some *nix boxes the other day. Straight to VMWare they went with the ticket. Why? Because the hosts were spiking too. Zero local investigation. Makes me mental because no matter what kind of enterprise agreements you’ve got for support, they assume you’re a complete moron as a result of activity like that.

Your opinion is pretty commonplace among Linux users, and as much as I appreciate the work you do, you should know there’s a lot of people in the windows world who are very competent - and don’t look down on other people simply because their tool of choice is different.

  • That’s the problem isn’t it? We used to have forums where people discus things and blogs where people share what they’ve learned, now it is all Reddit and discord and absolute trash in between.

  • Several years ago I inadvertently (because I didn’t realize who they were) got in a twitter argument with someone who I seem to recall as the creator of electron about how it was fucking embarrassing how bad electron apps are. At the time I kinda felt bad because he seemed like a decent guy and I let loose but I wonder what the carbon footprint of his little side project is…

I think what started the rant was that back at that time, if you scrolled one page back in a chat, it would display a graphic representing a chat while it loaded the chat. And the fucking software was sitting there using a GB of ram and couldn’t keep 5 min of conversation cached. Just inexcusably bad.

I don’t know who at Microsoft had such a hard-on for electron back then, but it seems to have spread and it’s still nowhere close to the good old windows GUI for resource usage.

Thankfully it has gotten better. Slightly. Still pegs my CPU but I think that’s because I have a shit CPU with integrated gfx
