  • I like to dip my Superwine biscuits in my coffee, but I get very upset when a piece breaks off and I have to scoop it out (usually with my fingers) before it gets too soggy and sinks to the bottom.

Then, what upsets me even further is when this happens to each one in the packet.

    Ugh!

  • Just realised my post should have been a reply to your first post. Finger trouble.

I'm not breaking out in a sweat under the pressure I'll tell ya, except to say that reading the Internet means I drink lots of coffee.

    I'll be serious on Wednesday.

  • At the beginning of the year, I was too slow to realise there would be a possibility of a nice long weekend by taking the Monday off (today). One of my coworkers got in before I could, so I'm here holding the Fort.

  • While one is not really allowed to ride on the footpaths, I often do. But pedestrians have the right of way, so if you do come across one, then go around them by going on the grass or jumping off the pavement. Just be careful when you get back onto the path once you're past them. If you don't know how, your front wheel can get caught between the grass and concrete path, and that's when you'll get to test those gloves.

On shared paths, I give way to pedestrians too, but those paths are generally wider which makes it easier.

  • Don't venture onto roads if you're not confident. Maybe in a quiet neighbourhood it would be OK, but stay off the main roads. BUT, make sure you have a helmet that fits, and gloves. The gloves are for when you fall because you will put your hands out to meet the ground.

Did I mention the helmet? And, remember to wear a helmet.

Have fun. I love my bikes.

  • 2am this morning, ...beep.....

    5 minutes later.... beep....

Which one is it coming from......?

    Beep.......

    5 minutes later ( just as I'm falling asleep.........Beep.

    I want to kill something!

  • This past leave break, I deliberately didn't check emails, answer text messages or phone calls (voice mail also disabled on network). It was awesome. Didn't worry about anything. They should respect the fact you're on leave, but there is always the idea they think you won't mind if they ask a quick question.
"Sorry to bother you while you're on leave but......"

    Nah. Go silent.

  • I've wanted to create the daily thread myself once before because I had a spectacularly AMAZING thing to complain about, but I decided not to in case a simple copy paste was considered uncouth (maybe there's a button somewhere and I didn't RTFM).

  • Fair points. But as I said, it's probably worth getting some for my own use and having a bash.

My main motivation with this is to do work me assisting in a house fire across the road from me. I never believed how fast a fire develops. Its fucking scary let me tell you. The more warning you can get the better. My house has a smoke alarm in every room, kitchen, lounge, and garage.

But just as important is having MULTIPLE fire extinguishers around the house. I've seen how far they really go in a real fire. You need more than one or two. You don't want to watch a fireman dressed in full gear with breathing apparatus dragging a hose in through your front door.

That whole episode was a serious eye opener for me. Luckily, quick action meant they didn't lose their house!

So, $120 bucks for two or three isn't a factor.

  • I considered those, but I've read some bad reviews. Friend of mine had them all through his house and said none of them lasted more than about 2 years. He's technical like me so I take his word on them. But, I've read good things too. May have to try a set for myself. Don't throw your receipts away in a hurry.
