The West sees itself as superior to other civilizations

Good luck changing anything in this world in bourgeois democracy if you're not wealthy and influential... It's a dictatorship of capitalist class, not more nor less.
No need to apologize.
I only get salty when Americans do it 😆 When I still lurked on reddit, I wrote a post about how educational system takes part in anti-communist propaganda and historical misinformation with my personal experiences attached and I got many responses from Americans who related to this and assumed I wrote specifically about the US schools. One of them even wrote ironically: "You see, we Americans are the best at everything!" No, my dear American comrade, I didn't even say a word about US schools specifically - that's the situation in many other places of the world, too.
But we have to give it to them - their system spreads everywhere, so there is a grain of truth in their assumptions. Poland wants to be "American" as much as possible and it breaks my heart. It seems to be tied to the anti-Russian propaganda that is spread by the government and I'm horrified how quickly liberals swallow it. Even if we put things that way, I would guess that we have more in common culturally than with yankees. I dream that some day we will put end to this insanity and unite under the red banner against the US imperialism.
Thanks for sharing some new information with me, I'm always happy to learn about your country and I know these Sovok things from my own experience, but it's strange - I never lived in a socialist country 🤔
Why don't communists stop living in society if they hate capitalism so much? Are they stupid?
There is no nostalgia for 50s and 80s in public discourse in my country, which basically confirms your point - it were socialist times, which the current rulling class hates. Media screetch thay we "defeated communism and won our freedom", many young people think that whatever happens is million times better than horrible 50s and 80s. But I can imagine what you mean.
Sure, people sometimes look at the past from the perspective of privileged classes. Ancient Rome or Middle Ages were anything but glorious for poor folks. We should stop romanticizing them.
I'm very sorry - I wish that someday we will have a conversation about these things in a more cheerful tone. One way or another, there will be a fight and that's good that you're staying here with us.
Przed niosem niechaj tyran drży. Ruszymy z posad byłę świata, Dziś niczem, jutro wszystkim my! (:
I met few Polish fascists and I struggle to understand what happened in their lives that pushed them to follow that path.
I asked one of them, who claimed to be a "classical fascicst": "What was wrong with Hitler?" He said: "People say he killed too many people or something." I asked him: "What is communism?" He could not even answer the question. Like, zero understanding of politics. A case of total brainworms. Heavily addicted to drugs, very sad person. The other one just talked total nonsense, about how communists want to count other people's money, sniff coke in gulags and make races mix with each others. It was borderline terrifying to listen to him, total insanity.
I feel kind of similar about unwillingness to bring children into this world. Things look bleak.
Except I am a little more hopeful - historically things going to shit were a prelude to change. It's hard to say if we personally will experience socialist revolution in our country during our lifetimes, but I find it hard to believe that eventually there will be none. At the very least it will happen in the Global South, for example, and the struggle will continue. If humanity survives the worst, the sun will eventually shine and I am almost certain that capitalism (still a very young system which proved to be a failure) will fail, making space for social progress.
Considering that I was depressed most of my life, I don't feel especially bad right now. Either we win and things get better or we die, fighting for the better world. Both options are better than just sitting there and being confused.
I think that things will change and it's up to us to stay on the right path and try to make things better. World cannot stay on the path it is right now on and I really think there are more and more chances opening up. Stay strong, Comrade.
No no, you don't understand. Marx is outdated and he wasn't right about x, and I didn't understand y, so I assume he was incorrect about that either, thus everything he said should be ignored. Additionally, his philosophy always leads to dictatorships of moustachioed men and millions of dead people. The end of history is only temporarily postponed, but it will happen soon, I promise.
Yes, this is it.
I think that Parenti got it right in his lecture about the US war on Yugoslavia. He said that the US does not do traditional diplomacy, but issues a set of demands instead and uses violence when the other side does not obey. Then they claim that it is their fault that violence happened.
This is arrogant barbarism tolerated only because of their economic and military dominance over the world. If any other nation acted that way, they would most likely be ridiculed and put in their place.
This circus would be hilarious if the clowns did not have nukes and the biggest military in the world following their commands.
What do people even like about the "values" represented by "The West"? I was never disillusioned by this, even long before being interested in communism. The US is the pinnacle of hypocrisy and violence and it's obvious for anyone who tries to learn from anything more than pro-US media.
Of course, I've heard that even though there is false propaganda in the US/Europe, the Russian, Chinese and other propaganda is much worse, that there is only violence and lies - but what is it if not racism? There are countless examples of violence at home, you have to be blind to not see it.
I mean mostly the US that I'm not a citizen of, but there is similar mentality in my country, too.
Why assume the whole world is wrong and only WE have anything that resembles democracy, that only WE have the right to decide what is good and what is bad, that only WE are advanced culture and all others are barbarians, willing to jump on us if we don't keep the whole world in check? The imperialism mentality is truly horrible.
Eh...
