  • It's the world they want and are actively marching towards. Restrictions/criminalization of everyone not cis, white, male, "christian", and heterosexual.

On a note about the city counselor, it's hard to see someone get demonized and terrorized because they support equal rights for all. And to go after his partner is just sick. My empathy and thanks to him for fighting with us. I swear the witch hunt of trans people hurts just as many cis people like this as it does us.

  • For those in the back, a right to free speech does not include the right to incite others to acts of terrorism.

This government official and his partner are being harassed because he supports the rights of trans individuals to make a private medical decision.

  • And yet we persisted. There's nothing like having your existence legislated, debated, and lied about. This countries march towards facism has to be stopped at the polls, please vote.

  • I didn't read a single thing from that that I didn't already get, what I'm arguing is that American control, is not what is best for the planet and arguing against dugin is just our own version of espousing similarly flawed beliefs.

this part especially seems to point the flaws in his argument, but so are the same flaws found in our own march to go to war with Russia.

"The battle for the world rule of Russians" has not ended and Russia remains "the staging area of a new anti-bourgeois, anti-American revolution". The Eurasian Empire will be constructed "on the fundamental principle of the common enemy: the rejection of Atlanticism, strategic control of the U.S., and the refusal to allow liberal values to dominate us.""

In the march to war, the call to be cautious and settle things peacefully is always rejected. But I'm not arguing for that I want the Ukraine to have self determination, I just don't think we should think we get to do it because it serves American interests, we should do it because it is the right thing to do. And we should take care of Healthcare, education, housing, ubi, etc.

  • Tbh I wish to agree with you even though you have downvotes, the empire phase of America needs to end. Whatever Russia is trying to accomplish in the Ukraine needs to end.

Russia should choose social democracy because it works and so should we. Russia as it stands can not be allowed to succeed, and America as it stands should embrace a revolutionary change that allows us to meet in the middle with social democracy.

The truth is we can afford to do both though, fight with Ukraine and take care of our people. There is more than enough wealth to give the Ukraine the chance to self determination and do the litany of things we've neglected to further capitalism. The pity is that we don't demand both.

  • Biden at least has had empowering unions as his legacy and that is where the real base of democratic power has historically been from, it's where most progressive policies originally spawned and where future change might be demanded. He's setting up the future for a lot more collective action. But it remains to be seen if that's the right call. But it's not a bad tactical decision, it's one for the future.

Add to that his environmental green new deal policies in the infrastructure bill, and he hasn't been a bad president.

  • And also not that different from how most people would describe their fellow earthers.

Ie - we aren't that much more complicated than that when it gets right down to the philosophical break down of what an "I" is.

  • The trans shooter manifesto will probably never be released, it's probably deeply personal and about the abuses he sufferred at the hands of some predator at that school, i don't get why that's somehow a cover up?

  • But progress is not due to capitalism. (that would be a post hoc fallacy) And global warming is an issue that is coming to a head this decade and the next few to come. This isn't some distant future utopian problem. This is pragmatic, and essential to continued human survival on this planet.

  • The current system is irredeemably evil though, isn't it? It is destroying us in an ever tightening death march of greed instead of saving the planet. It is starving and imprisoning, as a means to provide slave labor, instead of using surplus labor to actually feed, clothe, and shelter us all.
