  • Pedophilia is literally excusable for Republicans if it has that magical R next to the name (Roy Moore anyone?) But as soon as it's two consenting black people having a consensual affair, with no obvious reason to believe involves any conflict of interest, somehow that requires an investigation?

This is more racist misogynistic (double standards that powerful women can't enjoy sex) "rules for thee but not for me" BS.

  • She could be getting legitimate death threats from Republicans not happy about her politics, which if it's being published as a form of stochastic terrorism, there has been a legal limit on that as free speech.

  • Pretty sure I could make a grant program for kilt wearers and it'd get less backlash than this. The fact that black women can't try to help elevate eachother is ridiculous.

  • I'm not the one with the burden of proof to prove that it is painless.

Read about the fact that the scientific community can not study the death penalty from within most death penalty states to actually provide anything more than individual testimonials. The scientific community does not support the conclusion that hypoxia is in any way painless. https://deathpenaltyinfo.org/

  • Except the more you resist it, the more you suffer. If you hold your breath there is not enough time to displace the gas contents of you lungs and bloodstream. Your body will be full of the toxic and suffocating co2 gas and you will drown for 22 minutes like the guy executed clearly did.

  • They have had a long history of misadministering the lethal injection method, making that "painless death" inconceivably painful. It's why the medical community refuses to be a part of producing or helping the death penalty machine perform lethal injections anymore.

It's also why a mechanical "painless death" is being so propagandized now. Those supporting executions will find a way to make criminals suffer with any death penalty. The cruelty is the point, which is unconstitutional.

  • The fact that you don't understand displacement of lung (and bloodstream) gas content tells me you don't have enough of a medical background to understand wtf you are talking about.

  • I am applauding the act of resistence, I don't think the fact that garnishing wages is a consequence should dissuade those from trying to take a part in resisting. It doesn't make the debt culture we saddle our children with, for a chance at survival, any less immoral. Any resistence in such a culture is therefore a moral obligation.

  • What they were saying is, is that's not enough time for the nitrogen to displace the co2 in their lungs for the peaceful part to happen. It's not hypoxia that they die from its the suffocation.

  • As far as I know indentured servitude is illegal in this country already, I'm pretty sure that's reason enough not to pay.

They are conscientious objectors in that sense and I'm cheering them on.

  • A pulmonogist in another thread said that was based on bad science. That the body can't hit hypoxia fast enough to not trigger the suffocation response, because they are holding their breathe up to that point. That's kind of a big deal if true.

  • Wtf are you on about now? I'm just trying to help you understand something. Seems like you have an agenda.

  • That's why it was largely performative, to avoid the label of terrorism, but yes. A revolutionary threat might also be a label one could use, depending on how you want to look at it.

  • That's the thing about a threat, it doesn't have to lead to violence, but it is the performative act of violence. And the commitment to do violence or at least suffer the consequences, in this case arrest. That's what this was. You can understand it or not.

  • Performative protests are a warning that things aren't right. And French history has shown a penchant for heavy sharp falling objects to the back of the neck as the next alternative.

  • To think sustainability in agriculture is not about climate change is rather a narrow definition of climate change.

  • How'd that execution turn out? Oh it took 22 minutes to die.
