[POLL] Do you use/require a headphone jack on your phone?
- I just discovered that my phone sometimes autocorrects "Apple" to "asshole." Fun.
I mean same difference, right? ¯(ツ)_/¯
Haha, "America" 😂
Thanks for the advice! I think I'll follow suit.
Yeah, I have blocked hexbear & numerous weird gay/fetish porn communities. Make sure you're logged in. Click on the post & navigate to the community....then...towards the top before all the posts, there's a bunch of options. One being to 'block'. I have to scroll to find it.
Nav to offensive community Block their assIt should be noted I use Sync for Lemmy. You may or may not have this on your render/UI. Should be able to block.
Given your taste for amenities, and you are probably working for (someone else), this will require a car. The rural life will take more of your time commuting, it will put more miles on the odometer of any car, and of course you'll need to fuel & change oil more often.
Living in the country isn't necessarily cheaper.
SyncJesus is back from the dead, yo
Kellogg’s is going to war over Mexico’s nutrition label rules. A similar fight is coming to the U.S.
But their products are known for being high fiber content, so unfortunately, they'll push their shit right back out. 😆
Well, I don't really care for the subtle, haughty undertones in your initial statements & acting like he's some super well-off dude that has no problems. "off the grid on 90 acres that he owns". He's working on owning it, he wants to own land...and he's going about it in a modest way.
But oh my god , he's planning to do stuff on that land. Eventually. He plans to build a farmhouse & raise livestock. The sheer audacity of these life goals. That he doesn't have cash money for, but is working towards.
Something tells me a house he builds is probably pretty different from a house you would build. It doesn't have to be some crazy-ass expensive mansion.
You then casually dismiss this man by saying "working class, my ass". He's gone through his past, IIRC a lot of warehouse/industrial work. He dropped out of high school, got his GED. I think that pretty much fits into the definition of working class. It does get a little more hairy when exploring what is middle class, because it does mention "owning land". Okay. But there's also emphasis on education & white collar professions...that's not this guy at all.
And maybe his dreams of owning land, building a home, and raising livestock are the main cause of his suffering. Life is exponentially harder for him because he is actively striving for life improvement, not living in a tiny box & watching Netflix on the couch.
I think that's the main source of his frustration that shines in his song, he's working hard & then what little he makes is "taxed to no end". The system makes it so hard for average, ordinary people to get ahead and actually do something of value with their lives.
When it comes to government waste? It's not nothing, but I think you're right, it is technically small potatoes. But it isn't rare, I've heard 2 very credible firsthand accounts. The result of one I've actually witnessed, repeatedly.
So idk exactly how that SNAP/EBT stuff works, but it's just a certain amount loaded up on a card. I thought it was $200, and $200 went a hell of a lot further in 2017. My friend had a deal worked out with his neighbor, he'd "purchase" that $200 SNAP/EBT card for $100. They'd take that to the store & eat really, really well! 😂
We justified playing into it because if we didn't buy it, they'd just sell it to somebody else. So why not us? Why shouldn't we get the food? But yeah those neighbors wanted $100 CASH more than a $200 card to buy food. Is this behavior rare?...probably not as rare as you think. But definitely not common, and small potatoes.
He bought it, yes, but technically the bank owns it yet. IIRC he says he owes $60K on it, and he's paying it off. Very common practice.
With this debt, and working a standard job, he doesn't have the means to raise livestock atm. So yes, he's planning to, someday.
We're in agreement on that. But when in pursuit of an armed & dangerous individual, armed with a gun, I do believe lethal response in self-defense or pursuit of neutralizing the threat is authorized. If the killer is killed in an armed standoff with police, while not the goal, I'm going to call that a bonus.
I think it is a lapse in moral judgment to command others to act in ways that we wouldn't act ourselves...I think most people, pursuing an armed & dangerous killer, would want a gun & permission to use it when their lives are threatened. Tasers, stun weapons, and other non-lethal forms of detainment require getting uncomfortably close to the armed & dangerous person.
That isn't at all what I said, and this isn't a case of "shooting who they feel like". 🤨 This was a case of a killer, a true murderer, getting killed. No one will be prosecuted for fatally shooting this murderer. Stop making false equivalence arguments.
You should know it is a win. Justice is dealt swiftly, there's no bullshit trials or wasting anyone's time on this murdering asshole. Time or money.
Sure, he "suffers less" getting a quick death, but let's price this out for fun. This is in CA, Jesus, those idiots spent on average $64K per inmate annually as of 2015. Let's not forget we're in the era of Magic Biden Bucks™; according to Google we have experienced roughly 26% inflation since 2015. That $64K becomes $80K. Averages are just that, average, let's be very generous & assume this guy is nothing special. Costing the taxpayer $70K per year incarcerated. Nice, even numbers. :-)
That's at least $700K per decade, not accounting for any future inflation. You want decades, so this revenge/justice venture will cost at minimum $1.4M. Versus 10 mins & $10 in bullets.
I don't really seek vengeance in the form of life sentences. The end result is the same; death is death & he got his. Justice has been served accurately with zero delay, a modern day miracle.
Things used to be a lot simpler & cheaper in the US, but then we passed the War Revenue Act in 1917 which drastically increased the budget & helped to pay for the war. They probably saw all that money rolling in & got greedy. What was initially designed as a war-time fund raising effort is now just standard taxation, it has gotten worse, and the people being born & working & dying nowadays don't know anything different.
The government wastes so much money. Whose money? They don't have any money! They're wasting our money, that they extract from us via taxation.
We are financially raped into the ground, not allowed to enjoy the fruits of our own labor.
Never go back!! And always buy it on sale! It's not like it expires.
Upvoted!! 🙌🏻 Not flushable, even if they say they are. But they do eventually break down, as do most things. So you could "go Greek" & dispose of wipes in a small toilet-side trash bin, then dump in regular trash or even compost. 🙂
The Greeks at least aren't supposed to flush toilet paper because their septic lines literally can't handle it. It sucks & I think a lot of the people I was with flushed it anyway, but that's the protocol. I followed protocol because I am well aware of how much septic problems suck to fix.
Hey just trying to look out, I can't cite my sources atm (think I read it on Re**it years ago), the Japanese have fucked around extensively with hot-air dryers on bidets. Powerful ones that worked. Use & overuse of such devices can lead to a dried-out butthole, like it can be detrimental for your health. Do your own research, proceed with caution, don't go crazy & mess up your body.
Depends on the position! Last contract adjustment really helps the part-timers rise above poverty wages. Has yet to be ratified but it looks promising.

At least some of the bomb threats, allegedly, came from upset LGBTQ/left after removal of Gay Pride displays.
...I say allegedly because I won't discount the use of false flag tactics by either side to make the other look bad. But the threat was basically, "I placed bombs in your stores, put the Gay Pride displays back up or they're going off".
Thanks for the downvote, so good to know people here care about the truth & accuracy in reporting. 🙄
The poll/voting process is flawed & I don't like that.
That said, idk, I'm a blue collar working adult & the aux/wired connection isn't a necessity in my daily life. I can often, if not always, blast my music on an Ion loudspeaker. Car has Bluetooth. Home, I've got Bluetooth.
But that's just not the point for me; my phone has an aux port & I rarely use it. Used it to connect headphones on a walk last week. It's nice & I like having the option. Getting rid of it was purely an anti-consumer move, so needless, and obviously they can build it into the phones without detracting from battery or taking away from water resistance. Everything I've heard justifying removing aux is either a lie or an excuse.
