  • Well, while it is possible that the military does provide a nonviolent strategy along with their other ideas, do know that Trump will reject that out of hand. As I mentioned earlier, he's not interested in "bad deals", and any deal like this would have to at least be not terrible for Panama, and anything that doesn't cripple Panama will be "a bad deal".

That leaves Trump with only military force, I'm afraid he has no choice, his hands are tied... 🙄

  • Lol, finance (and thus financial reporting) is so braindead.

I'll summarize the whole article: Why did RDDT crash? "Because the stock price went down. Some people sold the stock, so more people sold it, now the price is lower"

Thanks Yahoo finance, this is the journalism we rely on you for...

  • That sounds like a you problem.

"Our business is so bad and barely viable that it can only survive if you allow us to be overtly unethical", great pitch guys.

I mean that's like arguing "our economy is based on slave plantations! If you abolish the practice, you'll destroy our nation!"

  • I have no idea what you're saying...

What is not frightening about planning to start a war? Are you saying that you could take the canal without starting a war? What other way of acquiring it are you thinking of? What other strategies do you think exist? When you ask the military to come up with multiple strategies to accomplish something, you're really asking them "would we have to put troops on the ground, or could we do this with a bombing campaign? What about the threat of violence and an illegal embargo?". But if you employ the military in any strategy they come up with, you're starting a war.

I mean, I guess we could offer to buy it, but it's a cornerstone of their economy, we wouldn't like the price. And Trump doesn't go in for "bad deals" (paying for things).

  • A reason to push through pain? Because you want to get home.

My eight year old complained that his hands were so cold they hurt, so he decided to take his gloves off and lay down in the snow...

I mean, I can't even... Kids are just fucking stupid.

Anyway, I tried to tell him that the only way to really make his hands warm again, was to get back in the car so we could head home. (Obviously my plea had no effect, he just broke down into tears and accusations, seemingly accepting his imminent demise)

The point is, sometimes the only way out is through. Sometimes you just have to keep moving even if the process hurts.

  • But does the texture artist need to talk to the modelers? Of course. Do they need to talk to people in sound design? Maybe. What about game engine and programming? Maybe. What about writers? Maybe.

The fact is, you'd probably have a better product at the end of the day if everyone were able to coordinate their efforts.

  • Yeah, I really could not understand the motivation behind that. Why throw away such a valuable brand? I mean the name was even a clever play on words that also gave them a cute bird icon/mascot.

"Twitter", with that bird logo is just a slam dunk, that's solid gold branding... It's insane to randomly "go a different direction" and then land at "X". If I was their brand coordinator or director of marketing when they made that change, I'd resign then and there.

Changing their name to "X" was essentially lighting 20% of their assets on fire on day 1.

  • Oh, I like that one! Direct and to the point.

Hey, since when is it bad to want to kill Nazis? Last I heard that was generally encouraged. It's the whole moral foundation that the first person shooter genre was based on.

  • I mean, yeah, you could do that.

I'm not sure if it would be better than a secret underground base... But you could do it.

With an underground base you could even have the one connection to it be a hard-line, not wireless. You could construct it with a smaller crew, easier to keep under wraps. And I expect that would still be less than 1/100th the price of building it on the moon.

Anyway, I do think the ultimate off site data storage location is a pretty entertaining idea, i'd bet it could make sense for some things, I just can't imagine what.
