Well rain chance is a compound probability it's the probability that it will or will not rain multiplied by the percent of land hit with rain. Like if 50% of an area will be hit and there's an 80% chance it will rain the number the weather Channel will give you is 40%

Because Atheism has a hell of a stigma attached. The loudest Atheists are frankly just as insufferable as the hyper religious and people don't want to be associated with them. I myself agree with Sagan's version of Agnostcism but I just don't care enough to try and wrangle with what exact word describes my situation which I would argue is a similar boat to most people

I'm convinced that most of that 63% identify as Christian solely out of momentum. If you ask most of them probably would say they haven't been to church in months and only really go for Christmas and Easter out of some misplaced guilt. If I were to wager I'd say only about a third of that population is the ones causing trouble because it's always the bottom third that are assholes

I get that gradually tightening the screws and doing this extremely methodically will ultimately end up with the most amenable outcome. This is a fundamental test of our legal system and it has to be followed to the letter for it to work.

That being said that's pretty fucking small comfort to a country that jails people for decades for possessing a plant that is legal in many states and yet won't hold accountable a man who we witnessed stirring up a mob to attack the fucking captial building on live television. He's a cult leader that is given a chance to speak on a national media stage again stirring up his base until they storm the capital again.

I'll push back a little on that first point and be a little semantic. If you create something it is beautiful inherently. You took a thought and made it manifest, that is beauty

I only check in on my cities subreddit for local news otherwise I've totally dropped it. I miss the community and the depth of content on what reddit used to be but Lemmy is growing fast and has kept many of the same internet jokes so I'm content
