  • No there was no lift or any other heavy equipment or machinery. We had a floor jack and hand tools. I find the idea that US employers drug test primarily for OSHA compliance or due to heavy equipment quite absurd. It's about discrimination (for both the right and wrong reasons) plain and simple.

  • Assuming it's truthful, she wouldn't have been able to make the claim without already having the data meaning there is no reason why we'd all need to 'wait and see' especially with something so damaging to the company.

Assuming it's a lie, all she needs to do is make the false claim and hope it leads to good PR before everyone forgets about it and the news cycle moves on. This explains why she'd tell us to wait and see.

  • States no longer have access to the drugs used in lethal injection because the suppliers didnt want to be associated with all that. IIRC one state tried their own cocktail of drugs recently and it went horribly wrong.

  • They're primarily talking about cars from used car lots or dealerships. You can find cheaper cars all day on Facebook. The real cheap beaters are pretty much gone these days but cars are also a lot better built than they were in the 80s and 90s where those uber cheap beaters originated.

  • Definitely read the docs but yes your edit is correct. In ESPHome (in HA) you'll just edit the config file to tell it, for example, that GPIO pin 5 is connected to a potentiometer and then this becomes an entity in HA.

I'd recommend getting some ESP8266 Wemos D1 mini boards as they're better suited to this and half the cost of ESP32.

Also you may consider other sensors you could use in this same area like temperature, lux, humidity, etc as they can all be run off the same ESP device in the same ESPHome config and you'll have plenty of free pins.

  • Its a worthy goal but I don't see it happening for decades as everything still uses USB-A and again there isn't a whole lot of downside to the current configuration as long as you have at least one or two USB-C for the tines when it's uniquely suited.

  • To be fair, the incident they're referring to was from a driver hitting a pedestrian which then knocked them into the path of the Cruise vehicle. They actually do a pretty good job of not hitting things but every incident gets amplified greatly.
