  • Glad to see Chrysler down at the bottom where they belong. My MIL's old 200 needed a new timing belt/chain at 60k miles before it was eventually totalled out by another Stellantis product (old man backing out of his driveway into traffic in a Jeep).

  • Dude you could fit a literal ton of batteries into a squarebody. In my 76, the engine bay has enough room to comfortably fit multiple full grown adults inside of it with the V8 engine in place. You could probably fit 3 small block V8s in there without doing anything but removing the inner fenders.

  • I'm no fan of Apple, but a lot of their new shows are pretty decent like Silo, Invasion, Slow Horses, Ted Lasso, For All Mankind, Severance, Foundation, etc. I suppose it's all subjective but I think they're worth the HDD space.

  • Seeing this first hand between myself and some of my close coworkers who all earn similar incomes with similar sized families, I'd be willing to bet a majority of those 32% (who don't live in the bay area or Manhattan) are financially illiterate and live paycheck to paycheck because they blow all their money on stupid shit.

I still manage to save, pay my credit card off each month, and pay all the household bills while still having money for stupid hobbies and yearly vacations while they constantly take out loans, loans to pay for other loans, finance even small purchases, have multiple maxed out credit cards, and keep kicking the can down the road on paying off their 20 year old student loans. I'd have a little more sympathy if they didn't make snide comments like "must be nice" when I mention an upcoming trip, or argue that I'm stupid for upping my 401k contributions during our recent market dip while suggesting its better to sell it off when the market is down so you don't lose your money.

  • 250 songs will get stale pretty damned quickly. Back in the day I had a 4GB iPod Nano and iPod adapter in my car and would very quickly start hearing the same songs over and over. You could always swap out to a new playlist but where are you going to find new content/recommendations without putting in a ton of work?

  • I have zero issues with piracy and have a gigantic media server full of pirated content but I don't see how you square "company being hostile to artists and revenue sharing" with "I better pirate this music instead"

I subscribe to Spotify because it's convenient as fuck and has 99.9% of the music I want to listen to (and podcasts). Pirating music is a huge pain in the ass these days even with stuff like lidarr and private trackers.

  • “This kind of operation is really important to us, because, number one, sex buyers are a huge problem in the industry. Without sex buyers, there wouldn’t be a market for the females to continue to be victimized,”

“Second, and probably most importantly for all of us, is the victimization of these females. There’s not a good scenario for them in this lifestyle, so the goal is to get them out of this lifestyle.”

A total of 26 arrests were made, 12 for prostitution, 10 for pandering, and four for pimping.

So they're 'saving these women' by arresting them and 'getting them out of their lifestyle' by making their source of income less lucrative? Once they get out of jail what exactly has improved in their life?

This guy seems like a sleazeball but they're burying the lede here.

  • I bought with 10% down in early 2020 and my PMI is only $40/mo which is nothing when you consider my mortgage is fixed at $1500/mo for an entire house while 2 or 3 bedroom apartments are going for more than that in the area now and are unlikely to ever come back down. Our previous 2/1 apartment increased from $550/mo to $1000/mo from 2009 to 2015 when we moved into this house (which we rented and then later bought from the landlord) without a single upgrade or improvement over that time.

  • I think it's more nefarious than that. Many departments want a good 'ol boys club where they're the ultimate authority and they want their officers to fall in line rather than question department actions.
