  • I've found there is an overwhelming amount of loud morons in these communities. This is thread has been no different. The downvotes speak volumes.

The demographics here appear to lean heavily towards people with zero awareness of the world outside their bubble with zero curiosity to expand it.

  • Article ends with "I’m not a performance expert at all, but I do like systems and enjoy thinking about their holistic behavior."

That's the only take away. Author isn't a subject matter expert but is going flap on about it anyway.

  • That's quite the game of telephone you've established.

I am not claiming there is no real science behind it but it's still fuel generation and energy storage is possible without needing to create a fuel.

The inefficiency at each step accumulation. The laws of thermodynamics are not negotiable. Fewest conversions is always going to win.

There are plenty of other more useable products we could create from excessive energy, clean water from desalination is a common one.

  • Most phones have a single sim slot.

A device can support many eSims.

I believe iPhones can support more than five.

The physical sim takes up space and costs more to produce and distribute.

With an eSIM, there is still a minimal cost but it is much less.

The cost is typically covered by activation fees, but don't expect the carriers to pass down what is $2-3 in savings.

  • You would be wrong.

I've read the article a couple times now trying to understand why this resonates so hard with some people.

I have tried to bring up what I feel are valid points and the responses are not engaging with what I've discussed but acting like I lack the ability to understand.

I get that attacking me is easier than addressing my points; I have the social skills of a software engineer after all.

I like code because there is no arguing. It's just math.

People on other hand are caught up in emotions and ego, creating anecdotes to fit their biases.

I can't fix the tangled mess of the human mind, but I can fix the crazy spaghetti code those type of people create.
