  • People are now being perma banned from r/pics of all places for merely posting on the Asmongold subreddit. Yes, it's become something of an anti-woke echo chamber in recent months, but it's the main subreddit of Twitch's most popular streamer.

And now we wondered why 74.7 million Americans voted for Donald Trump last week. Because maybe telling your voters that they're Nazi scum if they don't agree with you isn't a winning strategy, like the world view that most Reddit moderators have.

  • Called it, using Allan Lichtman's own 13 keys principle (in ways that he himself overlooked), and on a heavily downvoted comment.

Where I was wrong was with how narrow the result would he. It wasn't even Gore v Bush levels of close unlike when Lichtman's 13 keys prediction previously failed. Kamala lost the popular vote to a convicted felon that tried to usurp democracy and is the reason why abortion is no longer a federal right. The Republicans spent the last few weeks crapping on Haitians and Puerto Ricans, yet won some districts with large Latino populations.

This is what happens when Democrats ignore their voter base and choose a cabal of unpopular and uncharismatic candidates to carry the torch. The bar is now so low that we need James Cameron to venture out into the Mariana Trench and lift it back up again...

  • Bernie Sanders

    Pete Buttigieg

Or if they could have approached a very popular celebrity such as Dwayne Johnson or Taylor Swift and asked them to run.

Even Andrew Yang could have produced a better result if he made a better campaign pitch than focusing his solely on leftist pipe dreams that will bankrupt the country such as UBI.

  • I think Trump will win narrowly. Allan Lichtman predicted Kamala but I think some of his arguments for his keys to the white house being/not being turned are shaky.

I think Trump will win because I disagree with Lichtman's judgement on a few keys:

    1. The No Social Unrest key is False. We seem to be forgetting Jan 6th.
    2. No Scandal key is False. I'd say the incumbent president losing his marbles during a presidential debate and being too senile to move forward is pretty scandalous, also everything surrounding Hunter Biden.
    3. Good short/long term economy is a toss-up. I can't really say that having a huge national deficit, high inflation and awful living standards in real terms counts, even if America technically isn't in recession.
    4. Foreign/military success is a toss-up. I wouldn't count NATO rallying around Ukraine as that.
    5. Even if you disregard Gaza, the US pulling out of Afghanistan and watching as the Taliban retook the whole country within hours counts as a military failure.
  • Oh it's been like that long before January 6th, and long before Trump even stepped foot in the Republican primaries eight years ago.

That wasn't me defending Jan 6th either. Trump's little Beer Hall Putsch was frankly inexcusable, and the fact that he's likely not going to face any kind of criminal repercussions for it makes the US look weaker than the Weimar Republic.

  • Because American politics is weird and partisan a f.

Anything even remotely left will get you labelled a Commie or tankie by the right, while anything remotely right will get you labelled a Nazi by the left.

  • I've seen women like that on dating apps. Claim to hate small talk, include in their bio that if you just open with "hi" they'll unmatch you, and then when you put some thought into actually writing a response, ask a leading question about their interests or what they wrote in their profile, they unmatch you anyway.

  • I'll wait and see what comes of it. Valve have been singlehandedly responsible for evolving Linux gaming by leaps and bounds, to the point where the only real hurdle right now is anti-cheat compatibility.

Their direct collaboration with Arch is massive for that reason alone

  • What puts me off is the lack of games this generation. I'm not spending £700 on a console where the only worthwhile exclusive that isn't already on PC is Astro Bot.

If that's the best thing that Sony and Microsoft can give us after three years of releasing their current consoles, then we're well and truly on the verge of another market crash.

  • I used to work for a major business outsourcer. One of their contingency plans in case an office burned down or had to be evacuated was literally to make everybody work in another office 50 miles away.

It was so bad that they weren't even willing to reimburse travel costs. It was either get there or be fired.
