  • I don't think you'll want to risk prison time, especially when you risk being locked up alongside MS-13 gang members.

Trump has agreed a deal with Nayib Bukele that will effectively allow him to deport illegal immigrants of any nationality to El Salvador and transfer US prisoners to their facilities.

  • I'm not even remotely surprised. Anybody who has been following the history of Reddit will know that their senior management are spineless and will change their stance at a whim when it either hurts their public image or it no longer becomes viable from a business perspective.

We're forgetting that this is the same site that allowed jailbait, creepshots, racial hatred, right wing propaganda, rampant misogyny, gore videos, terrorist propaganda (if anyone remembers ISIL) and other disgusting content to proliferate until various scandals forced their hand. Spez in particular is a massive snake that will throw people under the bus and lie through his teeth if it benefits him.

But then again, with a government as volatile as this, maybe you don't want to piss of Trump or Musk...

  • US President Donald Trump is facing widespread criticism and accusations of proposing ethnic cleansing after stating that he would like to “just clean out” Gaza and relocate its Palestinian population to neighbouring countries.

Speaking aboard Air Force One during a flight from Las Vegas to Miami on Saturday, Trump described Gaza as a “demolition site” and suggested moving its residents to Jordan and Egypt.

“I’d like Egypt to take people. I’d like Jordan to take people,” Trump said. “You’re talking about probably a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing.”

He added that the move could be either temporary or long-term, saying, “something has to happen”

To everybody who voted against Kamala Harris because she didn't change her stance on Gaza, how does it feel to be played harder than a tenor saxophone?

  • Knowing Trump, I wouldn't be surprised if he went full Nayib Bukele and sent in troops to influence the vote.

And as much as I like Bukele, he presided over unique circumstances where his country was effectively being ruled by MS-13 and his actions were warranted in the case of being elected leader of a country ruled by drug overlords. The USA is going through no such crisis.

  • Still, it's a crappy justice system if literally running an international drug cartel thats administering adrenaline to torture victims (so they don't fall unconscious), skinning them alive and hacking off their limbs with a chainsaw until they die gets you a lighter prison sentence than being a Libertarian web developer who ran the "Amazon of illegal narcotics" and went down what I can best describe as a dollar tree Walter White style descent into criminality.

And that's just one of the cartel's many torture and murder methods. They are mercilessly brutal and an incredibly good reason to stay away from huge parts of Mexico.

I'm not saying Ross didn't do anything wrong (he certainly did) but there are worse convicts in the criminal justice system who are getting the chance of parole that Ross was denied.

  • I think Ulbricht received a disproportionately harsh sentence for his crime of running an online dark web narcotics marketplace. El Chapo only got one life sentence, plus 30 years for his role as a drug cartel kingpin. And last I checked, the Sinaloa Cartel are responsible for torturing and murdering hundreds, likely thousands of people through some of the most brutal and sadistic methods known to man. Ulbricht's body count by comparison? Zero, unless you count the two attempts he made to hire hitmen.

As for why Ross got pardoned... A few months ago Trump visited the Libertarian National Convention on his electoral campaign and pledged to commute Ross Ulbricht's sentence to that of "time served," which suddenly made an otherwise-booing Libertarian crowd erupt into cheers.

Good on him for actually keeping to his word. He could very easily have flipped the middle finger to the Libertarians who voted for him based on that pledge.

    1. He wasn't charged with murder for hire.
    2. Two of the DEA agents that solicited this actually tried to steal millions from the seizure, and each received custodial sentences for it.
    3. The other time he tried to hire a hitman, it was a crypto scammer.
