Right, so the focus should be on the big 6 and how they finance the fossil fuel industry to raise awareness and encourage people to switch.
Putting the blame on the individual (you need to reduce your carbon footprint) and expecting them to research every business and product they interact with on a regular basis means
the research won't happen because nobody has that kind of time, and
if they do try to do research on their own who knows if they'll actually research their bank.
Multiple things can be true at the same time. Multiple courses of action can be reasonable.
Of course. And your original statement was only placing blame on individuals, which is the type of attitude that helps these companies get away with the all the environmental damage they cause. 80% of the cause should also be 80% of the focus.
So you're "No True Scotsman" was not in regards to "Christian" but in regards to "Religious"? I don't think OP was claiming these people aren't religious, OP was claiming that OP's beliefs and these people believes do not overlap.
Do you seriously think "Christian", "Buddhist" and "Hindu" are all the same?
but it is not possible to be a magical thinker and to not contribute to evil
And above you is someone saying any Christian is responsible for the actions of everyone who claims to be a Christian. So what is a Christian to do?
They're not allowed to reject someone and the things they are saying because "No True Scotsman", but they are also held responsible for the things this other person does because they have not expelled them somehow, which is something they aren't allowed to do.
If you're going to say "No True Scotsman" then you can't also claim every "Scotsman" is responsible for the actions of every other "Scotsman".
Maybe if they pull a Boeing and
assassinatethe guy bringing their stock down commits suicide...
