This is a knee jerk reaction to what Elon is doing with DOGE
So it is a reaction to Fascism. Perhaps the targets could be better chosen (player 2 has entered the chat), but it is people reacting to the fascist takeover.
That's completely different, those are damaging people, not property. You're allowed to attack people to protect property, you are not allowed to damage property to protect people.
After all, I own property, but I am not the type of people getting attacked.
I'm on the fence about which is better. Portal 2 is an improvement, but also has its flaws.
Part of the reason I would argue Portal 1 was better is because it was so unexpected. I went in expecting "interesting puzzle game" which it is, but I did not expect to also get "excellent humor with strange horror vibes and incredibly good personality."
If someone didn't know what a Glados was I think the first one is better. I also recognize that many people who have never played Portal are well aware of Glados.
It's a mechanically strong Metroidvania with branching paths, hidden areas, and exploration, but what I love about it is the atmosphere and the juxtapositions is uses.
It is a crumbling decaying kingdom full of monstrosities, and the main character is an innocent little girl in a pure white dress. Lily does not attack, some of the monsters she is able to purify to restore their mind at which point they help her. So when you attack a monster appears to do the attack animation, while lily cowers a bit behind it.
One thing I love is when you are in a boss fight and shit is going down hard, the sound track is extremely chill piano music. The soft and beautiful contrasts against the harshness of the situation is a very compelling way.
The sequel Ender Magnolias is good as well. Mechanically there are some improvements, but I don't feel like the atmosphere or world building is as good. That may be because I played Lilies and was used to it. If your haven't played either I'd suggest starting with Lilies, and if you like Magnolias is worth your time.
WINE works surprisingly well too. I've seen people talk about gaming on Linux using Lutris or launching it through Steam as a "Non-Stean game" but I just put my files in my WINE directory and have better success.

They believe hierarchies are natural and unavoidable, so anything to make sure they aren't on the bottom. Anyone that can push lower on the hierarchy naturally means they are higher.

That's rich from the person who unprompted came in with condescending jabs because a genre they don't like exists and has some popularity.
This is a conversation about the genre. Where else to talk about the genre.
This is a conversation about classification. Imagine if someone had an AskLemmy post asking "Are tomatoes fruits or vegetables?" and someone replied with "How about we call them bland nutrition? Tomatoes have seeds and are slightly savory. Have you ever tried a strawberry? You can have seeds and have flavour. This feels like the ancient version of empty calories. It will fill your stomach until you find food more worth your time."
What does that have to do with the question being asked and who cares that this rando doesn't like tomatoes?
If you wanted to have a side conversation about opinions of the genre and game suggestions you could have had better success if you didn't come in swinging for no apparent reason.
Okay, I guess I did claim you were taking jabs at people. That totally justifies your unprompted condescending jabs at the genre somehow, and retroactively doesn't make your initial post sound judgmental at all.
Or we can just say you swayed me in your argument that you weren't criticising people, just the genre, and the rest of my criticism to your post still stands.
