  • They do all sound stupid.

As it's a complete statement just say "I'm wondering if the monkey can see my ears."

Because it is 'the' monkey, rather than 'a' monkey, it is implied that the monkey has already been referred to.

  • Yeah good - everyone is really positive about it when I tell them.

I'm not sure how many of them end up using the fediverse based on our conversation but I think broader and more important cultural changes are built on slow but widespread indications of shifting values; I think conversations about what the fediverse stands for is actually more important than people using it.

  • In your Lemmy account settings, set your default feed to 'subscribed' instead of 'all'.

When you open the app or log in on your browser you will only see communities you've subscribed to.

It will greatly improve your (and everyone else's) experience if you subscribe to positive communties and participate in them.

  • Complicated to answer properly but I think that on the whole religion offers a good package. There's so much variety though and of course not everyone who identifies as religious is sincere; all institutions are attractive for those looking to exploit their influence, whether it's a religion, government, business etc. I'm interested in the social, moral, philosophical and spiritual aspects of religion but I'm also a bit allergic to institutions and am not humble enough to fit into the sorts of hierarchies that most religions seem to insist on.

  • Yeah, the ideal amount of content to consume is probably zero. I'm starting to think that the best use of any kind of feed is news about very specific things you want to know about on time and literature which is released in installments.
