  • He really doesn't want people to forget that he lives in Texas now.

  • I couldn't find any details on their page, but do you know how they handle bank account syncing? Is it using a backend service like Plaid or something similar to securely link the accounts, or do you have to provide your bank credentials to the app directly?

  • I've been enjoying Firefish for my Mastodon content. I like the extra features and interface better than stock Mastodon.

Though, unless I just can't find it, there doesn't appear to be any way to follow a hashtag on Firefish, which is a bit of a bummer. The antenna feature is alright at filling in this gap, but it's not perfect.

Firefish works mostly okay with third-party apps, but none of them seem to be able to do some of the more advanced features like the live, auto-refreshing feeds, which is a feature I rather enjoy. So I've been pretty content with just using the PWA on my phone for the time being. The mobile interface is solid enough that I don't feel a strong need for a dedicated app just quite yet. Notifications can be delayed by a few minutes, but I can tolerate that.

  • Ahh, that's an interesting angle I hadn't considered. I wonder if there's a way to quantify the water savings this way, like a volume of water per TP roll or something. I feel like that could be a solid selling point to get more people interested in buying one.

  • How? Aren't you using more water than normal dry wiping, which uses none?

  • That's really weird. I've got 300 hours logged on my PS5 and haven't had any significant issues like that. Occasionally I'll get some frame drops if I've got a build that's very spammy with abilities that produce particle effects (going apeshit with mantis blades in Dogtown tends to be pretty taxing on the system), or if I leave the game running for way too long. But relaunching the game generally fixes that.

Otherwise, I've had a pretty consistent 60 FPS experience in Performance Mode all the way throughout.

  • It's not that ironic. In this case, the tool was creating a near-identical replication of the Disney logo. Generally, AI hasn't been able to convincingly reproduce a logo like that with any degree of reliability (for instance, the jumbled logos in the Getty Images situation). It looks like the AI has actually advanced to the point where it actually violates Disney's trademark. That crosses the line of fair use at that point.

  • Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime
That's why I poop on company time

  • FreeTaxUSA is the best. TurboTax can eat my ass.

  • I love this. If it was cleaned up a little bit, I'd totally wear a tee shirt with this design.

  • Twin Peaks is fantastic, definitely worth watching. The revival season they did a few years ago is also really good.

  • My friend does some deep web shenanigans to get some decent vape carts shipped from a few states over.

  • Excellent, let's keep that momentum going.

  • The 2016 DOOM fits these requirements. DOOM Eternal is pretty decent, but honestly I feel like it's actually a step down from the 2016 release. They added a lot of new mechanics that you have to juggle, and a bunch of plot (euch, gross), and is overall not as good of an experience. 2016 also has a better soundtrack, IMO. BFG Division is one of the best songs ever produced, even outside of game soundtracks.

If you want something a little more unique, I could also recommend SUPERHOT.

Basically, if an FPS puts its name in all caps, it's probably gonna be a banger. Caps-locking the title of your game requires a certain amount of confidence, I feel.

  • Imagine a mine that could move around, target seek, refuel, rearm, and kill hundreds of people without human intervention.

Pretty sure the entire DOD got a collective boner reading this.

  • One is my best friend, though I have no idea if I am their best friend.

That's an awful feeling, and one that I'm quite familiar with. I'm pretty sure I'm not my best friend's best friend, and that sucks to think about. It can definitely make the relationship feel one-sided, and that's painful to consider. Try not to put too much stock into quantifying your friendships, as it's very easy for that thought to spiral out of control.

  • Lot of bad takes and sensationalism in this thread. The real difference is that one group (prisoners) were charged with crimes, and the others (hostages) weren't.

Whether those criminal charges are valid or not is another story, but that's why they're using different terms for each group, as they're not captive under the same pretense as the other.

  • That assumes that this person is capable of normal decision-making abilities in the first place. Judging by the fact that he got hit with 35 child solicitation charges to begin with, I'm not gonna hold my breath on him not becoming a repeat offender.
