  • Damn, I hope it comes back. Bash was one of the greatest monuments to internet history.

  • Bank of America deez nutz

  • The first computer I got regular use out of was an old Apple II (or Apple ][ for the real ones), which I used almost exclusively for playing Zork.

After that, I got some hand-me-down computer from my grandpa when I was about 15. Had a Pentium II, 1 GB of storage, and an whopping 256 MB of RAM. Used it to play Starcraft, chat on IRC, and post on forums back when those were still fun.

  • I used to work with a guy who spent several thousand dollars on ships, most of which were scheduled for release 3+ years away from when he gave up the money. I think he still hasn't received some of them yet, but for some reason he keeps preordering even more ships. I would not be surprised if he spent $10k on this game already.

  • I mean sure, but how often is the virtual keyboard pulled up in any "creative" app? It always auto-hides if you're doing anything other than interacting with a text field.

  • What does this have to do with "creators", though?

  • Takis are for people who hate teeth.

  • This looks awful, like that Pooh movie. This "make a horror story out of expired copyrights" trend is gonna get old, fast.

  • Either you're blissfully ignorant toward the truly heinous shit Kotick has done and has allowed to be done under his watch, or you're aware of those things and are okay with them.

I really hope it's the former, because that's at least correctable.

  • True, but no one is going to pay for content with production values barely above tiktok videos - which is what most of YouTube's most famous content is.

I don't think of it as paying for the content, as much as just paying for an ad-free experience that doesn't require maintenance on my end and still helps pay creators. I watch YouTube a lot, and on several devices that aren't easy to adblock on, so I just pay for a family plan and none of my family has to see ads on any of their devices, either. I don't think YouTube is really doing exclusive content anymore, so that's not really a huge reason to subscribe.

YTP is one of the few "quality of life" subscriptions that I think is genuinely worth it, IMO.

  • Presumably they mean it allows the DNS provider to see your internet traffic, but I don't believe that's wholly accurate. I believe at most they'd be able to log timestamps of what domains you visited.

  • While I would understand your reasoning for doing so, I would be disappointed to see it happen. There's decent discussions on Beehaw that I enjoy taking part in, however if you guys decided to defederate or switch to a different platform entirely, I doubt that I would make another account somewhere else to follow. I like Beehaw's content, but I have enough accounts to keep track of these days after everything split from Reddit, so it would ultimately be a loss for me.

I'm not sure if this is a commonly-held opinion for those of us outside of Beehaw, though.

  • Zelda fans also got TotK and confirmation of a movie. 2023 was a pretty solid year for Nintendo all around.

  • It's also effectively unusable and largely full of spam, as a result. Blocking that magazine makes browsing the All feed actually functionable.

  • I think whatever you're doing is a little overkill for Lemmy. Normal users don't have these issues.
