  • I could see them pulling a Lenin on us when he dies. You would get pretty damn sick of seeing him in a coffin even then.

That's assuming they don't just replace him with a younger impersonator when he dies and keep this shit going forever. Hell, maybe that already happened during his first term.

  • Fun fact: during the early part of WWII, when Germany had signed a series of economic and political pacts with the Soviet Union (and before Germany invaded the USSR, obviously), they shipped various weapons systems and other advanced military technologies to Russia as part of the deals. One of these shipments included advanced 37mm anti-aircraft guns and turrets that had originally been earmarked for installation on the Bismarck, which was instead equipped with older, less effective guns. When she made her one and only sortie in 1941, she was fatally crippled by actual biplanes.

The moral of the story is: "don't give shit to Russia".

  • I had a (non-technical) manager come to me one day and say he wanted us to start using this hot new technology he had just read about called an API. This was in 2010. He showed me the article, which somehow never even attempted to explain what an API actually was. I just laughed and said I would make it an action item.

  • Apparently liquor stores make their money off of hard-core drinkers and alcoholics, so liquor ads (and liquor store employee customer support) are designed not to attract new customers but rather to make the existing customers think their level of drinking is normal and acceptable.
