Just fashion I am guessing. Knights still occaisionally had their armor painted from time to time as people still like color, but bare armor was just more in style.

Is that new? I've posted here so many times without the OC tag and never git removed before.

Basically a surcoat and my hood that I'd normally pair with the armor.

It wasn't until the late 14th-15th century and beyond that bare armor was the fashion.

Here's my kit before I bought the breastplate and leg harness, and also the helmet I intend to wear with this kit.

I am getting a plume holder installed and then I will paint it to match!

I actually got everything you see here off medievalcollectibles.com. it's all been modified by me.

It's all steel.

I would. I have a maille hauberk I used to wear with my crusader armor. Unfortunately due to a couple back injuries I got at work, I can't really wear that anymore.

That's actually where I learned some of my process as well as my friend who showed me how to do this.

Honestly looking at it in person it looks so much better than this image.

I am definitely going to darken the low spots to make the relief show up better.
