  • I get YouTube Premium and YouTube music free with my Google Fi phone plan, so I don't know if those count as subscriptions.
I actively subscribe to NordVPN to hide my piracy habits from my ISP.
I pirate pretty much everything else.

  • Vandenberg is a Space Force Base, there's going to be times that the military has something on site they absolutely do not want filmed, and SpaceX has no choice but to comply.
It's not like Boca Chica, they don't own the Vandenberg launch site, they lease it from the government.

  • Why would he?
The Supreme Court legalized anything he does as an official act.
If he issued an executive order that all federal employees must use his hotel chain when travelling he can't be investigated for Emoluments clause violations, Misappropriation of funds, Federal Procurement Violations, etc as it was an official act which he receives absolute immunity for.

  • Most of my family are diehard MAGA and I've tried to explain to them that the bigger the pool of paying customers the cheaper the insurance rates, and if you made the pool everyone in the entire country and took profit out of the equation they would pay far less for health insurance.
Most of the time they're response is that they don't care that it would be cheaper, they just don't want their taxes paying for someone else's healthcare.
They seem to miss the point that their insurance premium is also paying for someone else's healthcare but in the end it just boils down to selfishness and bigotry.
Boomers try to say that Millennials and Gen Z are selfish compared to them, but the boomers invited "fuck you, got mine".

  • And we had the capability to be training more troops this whole time?

Unfortunately winning the war wasn't profitable enough to defense contractors (the ones who make the weapons for the government, not mercenaries because that's what we like to call them too) so the goal was to keep it going as long as possible before winning.

How long do we expect that to last under Trump?

Minutes at most, Putin helped him get elected and he'll be expecting Trump to pull support forthwith and I expect Trump will gladly comply.

The military should be making all of their weapons in house, and Congress people shouldn't be allowed to own stock in anything at all, but especially not companies that make money off the government.

  • Mike Johnson makes me wish God were real. He's an Evangelical Christian and he's helping the literal antichrist come to power. If God were real I'd love to see the look on Mike's face when he's sent straight to superhell for the harm he's caused on earth.

  • Copper tarnishes quickly and forms a green patina in salty sea air, and the vast majority of ancient settlements happened to be on the coast.

I live in an older town about 700 miles from the ocean, they recently restored our courthouse with a new copper roof to replace the one from 1824 and it had a green patina in less than a year.
I don't think salty air is a requirement for patina, just oxygenation.

  • The next biggest economy would likely fill the power vacuum, which at the moment would be China.
European countries would likely band together but still align their policies closer to Russian polices because they're a more imminent threat than China.
There would probably be several small brush wars as countries try to to consolidate power amongst regional areas like North America and the Middle East.
Fragile ceasefires backed by American influence would pretty quickly dissolve like between North and South Korea.
And in a few decades everything will settle into a new "normal" just like it did when other great empires have lost their influence.

  • I fully believe it's because of Trump.
The US has billed itself as THE example of freedom and peaceful transfer of power for 200 years, and really started shoving it down the rest of the world's throat after the end of WWII.
But, all Trump had to do was come along and say "no, fuck you" to every safeguard we had against it and we did absolutely fucking nothing to stop him.
So, if it works here, why wouldn't it work everywhere else?
Now we're going to see every right wing world leader doing the same thing, and they know because Trump got elected again he won't be giving them a healthy dose of freedom for trying that shit.
