  • When I first installed it, it was running 22 (whatever version before Xia). Then, the embedded driver utility detected new drivers and I saw that there was a Broadcom driver available. The 2012 MacBook Pro had Broadcom, so I was lucky and knew this would be compatible. After updating drivers and the OS to Xia, wi-fi was working perfect!

I’m not sure for other MacBooks which may have different network cards.

  • Bonzi Buddy was the real OG. Some persons love Clippy, but Bonzi was always there for me.

  • Luigi: “Treat yoself!”

  • Trump: “Our thoughts and prayers go out to them, and may the God bless our souls— I mean, God bless them and save them from hiel. It’s the DEI that made them die.”

Gestures awkwardly trying to show Christianity

Trump: “What thing do you guys do when you show prayer? Is it the hand in the air thing or…?” Puts hand straight into air.

Advisor (whispers): “Sir, that’s the sig hiel. Wrong move. You gotta fold your hands.”

Trump: “Listen, no one - and I mean no one - knows more about the Jesus than me. I love the Bible. Really loving book after all. Read it, all the pages in the Bible are great, book of love and that’s just what this country needs. My favorite books are Bible after all. I read them all and I know them, I got so many favorite stories in them. Love the sequel, too. Look, why did they have to die? I mean who knows really. But I have strong opinions that DEI is the problem in some way. We’re gonna figure it out, we’ve got men looking into it, and certainly not the women.”

  • It will NEVER happen, but I'm still gonna try!

  • I never really think about the perspective that others like or enjoy the smell of tobacco. I’ve smelled Black and Mild before and that was tolerable enough, but still not appreciated.

I dislike the smell. But I also actively avoid tobacco and others smoking, primarily for health reasons we’re all aware of. However, tobacco, marijuana, etc. smells are migraine-triggers for me. If I’m around it too long, I could spiral into a terrible migraine that takes days to recover where I’m bed ridden and vomiting for at least a day. Migraines be no fun.

  • Democratic National Committee, don’t just stick to your old tired playbook of telling everyone that Trump is bad and doing the things he said he’d do. It didn’t work last time.

DNC, start immediately telling all Americans why this is wrong, what you will do different with the executive power, and keep up that messaging in a media blitz to win back all the working class voters who didn’t show up last time. Get a plan now for who you want to run on your ticket, and push them into the spotlight to advocate for us with progressive policies that help the working class. I’m a dreamer, but for the love of all things good, please let them be an actual progressive.

“We are the Democratic Party. Democrats are fighting for a better, fairer, and brighter future for every American: rolling up our sleeves, empowering grassroots voters, and organizing everywhere to build a better America.”

Really? Fucking prove it, then! Be the party of brawlers and stop maintaining “decorum”. MAGA is playing dirty because you’re weak and they know you won’t do shit. Fight for the working class like your mission statement alleges.

So tired of backsliding to the right on this tilted table.

  • 100% agree. I grew up on Super NES and owned every console gen from Nintendo up through Switch. Got into PC gaming 7 years ago, and then picked up a PS5 on a ridiculous deal to try to enter into their market and play some games. Astro Bot is a charming and incredibly fun video game. So much love was poured into this game.

It’s an incredible game and it deserves all of the awards it earned. I still love all the main Mario games I’ve played, and Mario Odyssey was a wonderful and charming game, too. Astro Bot is certainly not a “we already have Mario at home” game - I hold it up there with one of my favorite platformers I’ve ever played.

It’d be great if it could get ported to PC, but they would have to significantly adjust the game controls to get around the purposefully tight integration with the PS5 controller. Playing that game with the PS5 controller was so much fun.

    Edit: fixed some mobile typos

  • The background music is a little faster today for the final 24 hours.

    The background music: Kid Rock.

  • Whoa, I never noticed the moon has accordion hands! Thats weird!

  • It’s two characters, specifically Itchy and Scratchy from The Simpsons.

This is from season 20 episode 7, “MyPods and Broomsticks”. Scratchy is listening to a MyPod (parody of Apple iPod), and Itchy reaches over to increase the volume limit beyond its capacity. This causes Scratchy’s eardrums to explode. This scene occurs at approximately 8:37 into the episode.

  • It’s from The Simpsons s20e07: “MyPods and Broomsticks”.

Happens around 8:37 into the episode. Scratchy is listening to a MyPod (parodying Apple iPod). Itchy reaches over and increases the volume past its limit, causing Scratchy to blow his eardrums.

  • I have no idea what Wayland is but I will do some research on that tomorrow. Thanks for the feedback as that will help me do further investigation and exploration in the Linux world. Eager to learn!

  • Thanks for your input.

I won’t give 11 a chance due to the privacy and security concerns.

I’m also not the target customer for HDR. I’m photosensitive and bright lights are a migraine trigger. To put it in perspective, I can’t drive at night anymore due to modern headlights - I’ll end up vomiting and then possibly bedridden for a couple days. I generally have my monitors, depending on model of course, no higher than 30% brightness at all times.

  • Heard about Bazzite basically being like Steam Deck. I think it's great for a handheld, or for some one who wants a specific use case such as a PC hooked up to a TV that primarily is only for gaming.

With the way I use a computer, first and foremost as a computer, Bazzite does not work for me. I want to boot directly into desktop and do desktop things. If that ever changes for me, I will definitely consider Bazzite and Steam OS as options.

  • Thanks for the suggestion on tiling, I will look into that as well. I remember one thing I heard about Pop_OS was it's excellent implementation of tiling, so this sounds interesting to me.

Curiously I forgot to try EndeavourOS. I'll roll Linux Mint for now and then if my use case changes, I'll explore it. So far I've only recently tried Pop_OS!, Zorin, and Ubuntu. Linux Mint felt best for how I currently use computers. I'm interested in the idea of whatever an "AUR", so I'll do some research on that too and log that away for some ideas.

  • Thank you, that's an important distinction. I figured it was just for settings and not my data, naturally just to reduce the size of snapshots. I'll look into separate backup solutions, especially as this year I'm going to be looking into either a NAS type of solution, or if I want to try to learn how to roll my own on-prem Nextcloud and begin educating myself in basic networking and things like that.

  • Thank you very much, this is helpful. I've jotted these things down so I can look into a good solution.
