  • I'm sure someone has started.

Places like www.ethicalconsumer.org hae been around for a while. Even back in the early 90s I had a book that helped me avoid the worst companies. Just hoping to find something a little more focused on this new rising oppression.

  • I get it. I haven't even used that app in 3 months or so. (And that was to show some basic examples of my idea to a tattoo artist who was paid to make an original design based off my concept.)

The reality is that AI isn't going away. So rather than just give up, I'd rather find alternatives to the people that are the worst of a not so great thing.

Plus my question isn't which AI companies support Musk. I'm looking for a list of anyone that is promoting the hate and oppression that is quickly becoming acceptable.

  • I guess I shouldn't be surprised if AI based software used advertising created by AI that just grabbed top recent search terms.

But if they can't keep their software from promoting oppression and hatred, then I have no interest in it, AI or not.

  • I don't use AI really. Hell I barely use electricity in my day to day life. (Spent the previous 3 years living off-grid and haven't fully adjusted to living in a wired home yet.)

I'm more interested in making sure the people who don't deserve my support don't get it. I already stopped supporting the meat industry (99% vegetarian for 25+ years). I dropped Nestle back in the 90s as well. I already know which major corporations and brands to avoid.

I just am looking for something that focuses on our current issues.

  • It's not. But it's harder the longer you wait. We've stopped teaching children because skills like this don't fit into check boxes that can be marked off. It's far easier just to train them to memorize test answers. We don't TEACH anymore (likely because we don't pay people to). It's hard work, and the students outnumber the instructors so it's no surprise we're struggling. Parents don't continue the education at home and expect the system to do all the work because they are wasting all of their energy at work.

It's going to take generations and decades to fix this and we won't see the results in our lifetime. But we need to start doing things differently if we want things to be better for our descendants. We need to reform education AND create an environment where you don't need both adults to work 40+ hours a week to support the family.

  • Our farming system needs an overhaul, but I agree that this isn't the way to make that happen. But I am hoping this bullshit will force us to take a closer look at how we produce and approach it in a more sustainable fashion.

  • I never understood the hate. I was part of the Microsoft team that got to play with all of the prototype controllers (I still have a few). Several of us pushed for the size of the Duke, but we were all guys with HUGE hands. We wanted the Dreamcast controller but bigger.

Hard to believe it's been 20 years already.

  • They lost because they were offering the same bs they always do. No amount of time would have saved them. Trump won because he said he would do things differently. Harris lost because she wasted time fighting the Trump icon instead of offering solutions for everyday people.

Hopefully this failure will help push forth a party for the people instead of the garbage us vs them that we always get from both major parties.

  • Police harass minorities. If you live somewhere where you are not considered a minority, you'll likely not have any issues at all. But if you travel to someplace where you are the minority or are obviously not normal looking, you should expect to be harassed by local law enforcement.

  • I don't know why you're downvoted.

OP, it's your kid. It's past time to figure out what they are into. I promise there is something that you can at least get a little into.

My kid likes banjo/mountain music. Not my thing but I enjoy seeing live shows with them because they enjoy it and I enjoy live shows.

  • 'I'm married.'

    'I have a boyfriend.'

    'I don't need your help.'

I understand why they react this way, but I have to admit, I don't compliment women very often anymore. At least the guys don't need to assume I have some other motive in order to feel safe.
