I‘m not saying I go out and about coughing in peoples faces. I try to be sensible and stick to high hygiene standards as mentioned.
So if somebody is vulnerable or feels anxious about getting infected they should also take proper precautions. And by everything I’ve learned through the pandemic, the risk of transmission should be very minimal.
As I said: I limit social interaction to the most minimal. And from what I‘ve understood during the pandemic, my precautions should reduce possible infection by over 95%.
And at least where I live there are no signs that Covid poses any bigger risk to public health than the common flu (where I also get my shots and behave accordingly after living through a full blown infection).
It is my very personal take on this and by no means a recommendation, but here is how I do it:
If I feel seriously sick, that means: more than a common cold, I limit my social interactions to the bare necessary minimum. I will still do my own groceries (if possible outside rush hours) but sanitise my hands thoroughly, wear a fitting ffp2-mask and generally make a conscious effort to take hygiene much more seriously
By now, anybody vulnerable has had the chance to get sufficiently vaccinated so that I don’t feel it is justified to lock myself up.
In the last years the max temps during the summer months in southern Germany have significantly risen - often over 30 C. I just moved into a new house here that fulfills the latest energy efficiency standards (kfw55) and am surprised how well it also insulates against heat. With a recuperating air ventilation system it’s pretty bearable without active cooling.
Yeah, there still are heaps of MSG in them and therefore a lot of traditional “cucina povera” recipes make use of them.
Still, at least for parmigiano reggiano, modern food science has found that the mold living in the cheese dairies penetrates the rind several centimetres deep and is almost ubiquitous.
Likely it is as always: the dose makes the posion.
That is a very coarse categorisation.
Really hard cheese, like parmigiano reggiano, is almost always already “contaminated”, which is why the last few centimetres towards the crust shouldn’t be eaten.
For anything softer than that, f.i. middle-aged Gouda or Emmental, I wouldn’t risk it, as the mould will already be spread far wider than visible.
I found Fasching - at least for me - had almost always had kind of a staged and unnatural feel to it. It definitely does not meet my expectations for a liberal, welcoming vibe that encourages self-love and -expression. But that maybe just me…
As a SW-German, I’d say it is way more a rural vs. urban thing. In the greater Stuttgart area f.i. don’t worry about openly living a gay lifestyle. If you live out in the woods, it might be different, but not necessarily so.
That being said, SW’eners are generally way more conservative towards any kind of “fun” or “flamboyant“ things - legacy of the very pietist history here.
I‘d generally advice against sneakers. If you want shoes that last, get some quality leather shoes, ideally Goodyear welted ones. When properly taken care of, they can last many years and can then be repaired. Also they will fit very well, after being broken in.
Because there are so many people completely free of symptoms that still transmit the virus.
I stick to the official regulations of my administration and they do not state mandatory isolation any more.
