  • Biden would give away Florida to Castro as part of his love for communism

I love how utterly deranged republican shit is in the US, and seemingly there are people so braindamaged they take it serious. 😂 Really goes to show how much worse things could be in many countries. At leasy they're not the US, basically.

  • As long as we have Democrats like Kamala, we will have Republicans like Trump.

Ah, this makes sense, since Trump didn't appear before Harris did. Smart thing to say.

  • I’m sure Google wants to keep the difficulty level for end users high enough that it remains niche.

I really do not think they need to. We tech communities massively overestimate the desire and even contextual awareness (and desire to have such awareness) of regular users to engage with these topics.

Keep in mind that the vast majority of Firefox users - a browser inherently more used by tech-savvy people! - have 0 addons installed. And probably 0 desire to change this. Or to even waste thought seconds on considering whether to change it.

To users, smartphones are tools. Like hammers. If it stops being a useful hammer, do you take the head off and re-forge it? No, you buy a different hammer that does what you need it to do.

  • I don't think they do it actively. There's just not a big enough issue for them in custom ROMs to even bother doing something about it.

Rather, they got other issues to tackle and custom ROMs are so off their radar, they get swept up simply because nobody cares (either way) to check.

  • I mean even for video games, early access just means "release, but we openly tell you it's unfinished and buggy".

For board games, it das you went to retail instead of Kickstarter where you'll get your game 6 months later and paid more for it.

  • Ah, the four basic types of coffee, Regular, Posh, Italian and Wrong.

  • @CuddlyCassowary ABSOLUTELY DESTROYS this topic!

  • Yeah but like, if you're feeling depressed, have you tried feeling happy instead? Durr! /s

  • I mean there's probably a lot who don't, but they're busy firing missiles at civilians in Ukraine to get around their 15y work camp sentence.

  • Always gets me back to the Dr House scene about the mom who doesn't want to vaccinate her kid.

  • I was able to do it myself! the cost of running a Lemmy and Mastodon instance for myself is so cheap… I’m actually shocked more people aren’t doing it!

I mean what for? It costs even less to use an existing Lemmy or Mastodon server given the minimal load you add.

  • I thought that was the - clever - point to make. :P

  • is in fact, GNU/Linux, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, GNU plus Linux

Average GNU, can't even tell a division slash / from an addition plus +.

  • For me I like them, I just wish:

    • The puzzles were tougher.
    • The story wasn't as thin and spread out. It's fine, but just not a lot of story for the amount of time it has to last.

I will say that as a result, my by-far favorite entry in the series is Layton vs Ace Attorney since it uses the combination of both "gameplay types" to cram more story "meat" into the same length of adventure. It's also a wee bit darker, which actually helps it a lot IMO.

  • can't wear headphones

Wow, imagine coding without podcasts or music...

  • I did so many so convoluted ways of getting rid of enemies, but every time I see a video I learn of 2-3 more things.

Although in the end I think my most-used blocks were Water, the normal Bed, and as for a summon the Moa. 3 of those floating around really tore enemies to pieces.

  • That the guy making the table is pulling things out of their arse, basically.

  • Hrm, I'll be honest then, you're the very very first time I hear someone wanting to consume game reviews meta aggregation in a chronological way (instead of by-game). Not once seen this sentiment before.

I dunno, it's just not how people use these pages I would assume. You create search shortcuts for them, not RSS feeds. You want to look up what various reviewers at large say about a specific game, more so because this changes over time (so would a feed udoate each time the score changes? Only once on the very first review? Only once it stops updating for X time? What if that takes months?). It's the polar opposite of once you have 2-3 reviewers who mirror your personal take well where you might want to know each time these people post a new review.

  • Uh, yes of course? The customers for a console and a handheld PC aren't the same so naturally the former wants a game posted to the console?
