  • My mom let me figure it out for myself. I wanted to go to mass with grandma so she let me.

I quickly figured out the nonsensical nature of what I was seeing. When I found out I had to do a bunch of extra shit before I could get in line for Jeezits, I lost all remaining interest.

Been an atheist since. Probably was around age 12.

  • I did mess with Lightwave a bit but never got proficient. I cut my teeth on Imagine for the Amiga. IIRC it was like 2-3 hours to render a single frame of a starship flyby animation I made. I remember it took me a couple weeks to render the whole thing.

I only ever did it for fun though. I actually have a lot of respect for those artists. It’s a lot harder than it looks.

  • Yeah man. When I was in the military in the early to mid 90's they hadn't banned it at the federal level at first. It was so disgusting having to work inside. I would go back to the barracks at night coughing if I had to work next to certain people in my unit for any length of time because they were chain smokers and as a lowly PFC I couldn't say shit to anyone about it. I would ALWAYS volunteer for any duty outside just to get away from it.

Second year I was in, they banned all indoor smoking across the entire federal government and I was SO HAPPY. The amount of bitching from those crusty old soldiers though... 😂

  • My brother in christ, you have no idea. The rise of the computer age and needing round the clock support for all that entails has really done a number on the working class. I am old enough to remember how chill work environments in the 80's and early 90's were. (Everyone smoking indoors sucked, though)
