  • So, economical reasons couldn't account for the slowdown. It's 100% education and contraception...? Not the cost of living is so high and pay is so low that supporting another human is a risky venture. Or people are working so many hours to make ends meet.

I'm saying most living things, real or fiction, are more likely to be selfish than listen to literally anyone telling them not too. And we see this in the MCU repeatedly, both on earth and in aliens. When you emphasis freedom of will and choice, you cannot be surprised when it's exorcised.

  • Yeah, that plan wouldn't work. There are plenty of people today on earth, where we have endless access to education and contraception, who go out of their way to have like 12+ kids. They know what they're doing and simply don't care.

Someone telling people "Hey, be real cool if you like, had fewer kids" just isn't going to accomplish anything.

  • As a US citizen. YES. FFS, the point of sanctions is to compel a change or deter an action. Americans might pay way more attention when the rest of the world puts us in timeout because of the terrible leadership.

  • It depends on the fabric. Like, it makes towels less absorbent, most sports wear hates it (tags generally say not to use fabric softener), it leaves a residue on stuff, blah blah blah.

For any smells, use vinegar. Using vinegar is just a good idea. Do a wash with regular soap, and then an extra rinse cycle (or full cycle, based on need) where it's just vinegar. You don't need a lot. Vinegar will help clear out smells, it'll help break down the buildup of soap and softener that's probably in the machine (which can add to the fun smells, and can mold).

My towels are so thirsty, I could throw one in the Atlantic ocean and it would just be a puddle afterwards, it's fantastic. Just a regular wash and then an extra rinse like I stated, and no dryer sheets in the drier, I use some wool balls I got. The main thing to not get shocked, is to not over dry in the drier.

  • When I worked in office, there was one guy who literally brought in a gaming laptop. People would sit on their phones all day playing games or scrolling through Facebook. Or take a half hour smoke break every hour. Oh and so many people getting up to go just chit chat with somebody else, not about work, just to talk.

  • If I remember correctly it largely started because of some joking comment by some famous person decades ago. And because of early internet it was a early form of meme. It was something you repeated, it was the cool funny thing to say. And then I think people started to forget that they weren't to take it seriously. So they start saying they hated a band and had absolutely no idea why other than 'that's just what you say'

  • Doesn't matter don't do it.

A few months back someone posted that they found all of their deleted posts from when the great migration to Lemmy happened. And I checked myself that day and found that a large portion of my posts that I had deleted were restored. And I had verified the day that I had left Reddit that my posts were gone. There was no history on my account. And if I look right now those posts exist again.

  • Yeah, that method isn't intended for enterprise work. But someone who isn't technical can use it to help figure out what's going on. Not a single person I've ever helped with wifi issues wants to map out things with a wifi analyzer. But ask them to use music and people are far more interested. Even as a thought process since (most) people understand how sound works, if they start thinking of wifi as "noise" they can better understand it.

  • Wifi is just radio. So, having your access point or wifi enabled router surrounded by things is bad for your wifi experience.

To a certain degree, you can do a "poor-mans" way of figuring out how good your wifi would be by just putting a speaker where the wifi should be coming from, then go someplace else in the building and ask yourself, "Can I hear the music still?". You get an idea of how the wifi is moving about. (Keep in mind, it's not perfect, but if you don't want to use apps or specialized equipment and want to wing it... this will work in a pinch). Sound is better than light because wifi will penetrate walls/floors/etc, where light won't, so you can listen against said surfaces and close doors, etc, to get a general idea of things.
