  • Counterpoint - Devs need to eat. Especially devs that are thoughtful enough to enable their anti-cheat to work on Linux. So yeah, they had my attention, my support, and my money. In return I got to play a fun game and rock some cool skins and accessories - it certainly seemed like a win-win. Now they've retroactively backed out of their support, and I'd like to back out mine as well.

  • Yeah, I can open the post in the WebUI/Browser and share that way. That's been my approach for the moment - but just community "Linux" (local) doesn't seem to appear on Voyager's list the same way. I think it's an issue with this app specifically, not lemmy or the instances.

    Thanks for taking a look!

  • Nobody I know is asking for lax immigration policies. We want more judges to process the cases in a timely manner. We want migrants to be treated humanely during that process - given shelter, care, and not separated from their children. We want border control to have the resources necessary to deter unauthorized entry, and ensure authorized entry is available to those who need it.

These are not radical desires, it's about fixing the completely overwhelmed systems already in place. It should not take years to determine if someone was qualified to enter.

Or, we can go with trump's approach of denying everyone entry by default, detaining and separating their families, and sorting out the details never.

  • There's plenty of reasons to hate on the verge, but Nilay Patel is an undeniable powerhouse. Really any feature he writes are worth a read.

Edit: this one is particularly special. What a well articulated expression of qualities modern republicans are lacking.

  • Crazy.. I've always suspected it was some kind of targeted BS. They spend money to pay a cop to sit there all day and ticket broke people with $150 fees, when they could paint a ped crosswalk and make the store easy to access. It felt designed to be actively hostile to pedestrians. And of course there's always tenats moving in and out, constant source of new ppl that didn't know how strict they are.

  • Cops around me regularly use jaywalking for fuckery too. I lived in a low income apartment directly across the street from a convenient store. Basically a stones throw from apartment property entrance to store front door. It wasn't a terribly busy road, it was four lanes and did get traffic, but it was pretty easy to find breaks in the flow and cross.

To get from the apartment to the store legally, you had to walk nearly a quarter mile (400m) to the nearest cross walk, cross, then another quarter mile back to the storefront.

Police would post up outside at that store and write jaywalking tickets all day for anyone that didn't know better. I watched those tickets escalate into detainment and occasionally searches and arrests if they argued with the officer about it.

Edit: of course if you had a car, you could just drive across the street to the store. No problem with that!

  • Yes, doing anything too often can remove it's shine, that's just life I'm afraid. I found my useful line is between media consumption and creation. I can easily immerse myself in either to the point I'll burn out on a game or book to never touch it again - but if I can mix creative work like writing or drawing on some days, games and books on the others, it helps my overall interest and extends my enjoyment of both.

  • I can 100% imagine him running for as long as he has a pulse. And even then, it wouldn't entirely surprise me if he didn't have a pulse and republicans used a deep fake to keep him campaigning. He's basically all they have at this point.
