  • Fellow Wisconsinite here (waves at new friend).

Honestly, as far as highways go, travel through Indiana. I have to take I-65 the entire length of Indiana 4 times a year as my in-laws live in Kentucky, and it is absolute crap. Every single over pass has a rough patch under it. I'm not sure if it is caused by water coming off the over pass, but every one has it.

Several years ago, truckers started boycotting Indiana truck stops, because the highways were so bad.

Now as far as local roads, yeah there are some pretty terrible ones. One road that I go on nearly every day, as it's one of the outlets for my neighbor hood, is owned by three different entities. Inside the neighborhood, the road is owned by the city and it is well taken care of. Where the city care ends, the county takes over for about 2000 feet and that is reasonable. Then there is a section about 1000' long that I'm not honestly sure who owns it and it is in HORRIBLE condition, until about 500' before a major road, where the county comes in again and that part of the road is in good shape.

TL;DR: One road, three owners and one owner doesn't do shit to maintain the road.

  • I am friends with someone that worked at TSR during the 2e days (he's not mentioned in the video). The only thing he had to say about Gary Gygax, was this: "Gary owes me money." He did not have a lot of positive things to say about his time at TSR.

  • My wife introduced me (53M) to Coke Zero on our honeymoon 18 years ago.

I dropped 10 pounds just from that one change. It didn't take me any time to "get used" to drinking it, like Diet Coke, which to this day still tastes metallic.

Adults really should minimized any and all calorie intake from drinking. So that means water, or zero calorie sodas and drinks.

  • Skydiving

While age and injury has retired me from the sport, I like to keep up with what is going on in the community. You don't do 4k plus jumps and not be addicted to it for life.

r/skydiving just became the hang out for skygods and their ilk, long before Reddit took its permanent nose dive.

  • Keep in mind that American news is not really news. It's strictly entertainment and you should treat it as such. FOX, MSNBC, CNN are all for profit enterprises and they are completely focused on that and nothing else. That asshole fuck face that owns FOX even admitted it in court under oath.

So instead of informing the public, these entities present "news" in a way that is designed to make you emotionally react, give you a dopamine hit, instead of actually informing you of anything. Are some worse than others? Yes, but all of them do it to some degree or another. I personally believe that the down fall of this country will eventually be tracked to the elimination of equal time laws and the limits of entities owning media outlets. It used to be a single entity could not own more than 11 broadcast stations. Those laws need to come back and it's an absolute emergency that they do.

To sum up the above: You are constantly being manipulated by the media you watch to make you feel that things are a lot worse than they really are, so some asshole somewhere can make more money. Yes, your feeling of things being out of control is only because some fuck face is making money from you feeling that way.

My suggestion is do not watch TV for your news. Read. If you want to learn about American politics, read a foreign newspaper that comes from a country that really doesn't have a lot of skin in American Politics. Better yet, get involved in your local political scene and make yourself a part of the news cycle.

  • Sub Zero fridges are great, but keep the maintenance up on them.

I personally own a Wolf DF304 range and if you cook a LOT, they are well worth the money. Mine is 10 years old, is used VERY heavily and it is the best cooking stove I've ever cooked on.

  • As someone that has been to the tops of Cloud Splitter, Grays Arch, Chimney Rock, Half Moon, Indian Staircase, and dozens of others I cannot remember at the moment, Red River Gorge is the single best place in all of Kentucky.

I would go as far as it's the only reason why Kentucky should continue to exist at all.

  • I'm chopping onions, that's why there are tears in my eyes.

  • As a Wisconsinite, I say...

Fuck Robin Vos. He's been a blight on this state for over a decade and it's high time he is shown the door. Hopefully with the Wisconsin Supreme Court, we can finally get rid of these stupidly gerrymandered congressional maps and have representation that actually reflects the population.

  • If you flirt with an NPC or a dragon... You're making the DM either very uncomfortable, or you are turning him/her on.

  • I point to those two movies to illustrate a great director as opposed to an average one.

Pacific Rim is a brilliant film that pays homage to multiple films and genres.

Pacific Rim: Uprising is a terrible film that completely missed the point of the first movie.

  • Televising that trial would be a huge mistake and it is unbelievable that any sane individual thinks it is a good idea.

Anyone following that fucking narcissist cannot be swayed by evidence. It is just an opportunity for him to say things that will incite his followers to violence, or what ever he wants them to do.

The trial needs to be conducted by the book and fully documented and not televised.

  • I would rather you look at that poll as being a message that those of us who are NOT insane, should not rest. We need to keep pushing for competent people in positions of power in our government.

That is going to take you, me, and everyone that wants the above to vote in every single election from now on.

  • Honestly, my first washer/dryer, dishwasher, microwave, and refrigerator were all GE. We bought the house new and were 500 miles away. The house came with the dishwasher, and microwave. The builder put me in contact with his appliance supplier and I got to use their discount, which was only offered on GE products. I paid for the Dacor separately, as that is the range my wife wanted. At the time, she was the cook and my entry into the hobby of cooking was about 3 years away.

Here is how long each one of those GE appliances lasted: Washer: 6 Dryer: 10 Microwave (over the range type which I hate): 8 Dishwasher: 12

On top of the lack of longevity, the performance of each appliance was terrible compared to their contemporaries.

Each was replaced with: Washer: Speed Queen current age 10 and works like new. Dryer: Speed Queen: currently 6 years old. Microwave (ditched the over the range and bought a range hood and a counter top microwave) Panasonic current age 8 years. Dishwasher: Bosch 800 series. With that said, the old GE was still working, however the dish racks were all rusting.

  • Farscape, at least for Sci-fi shows.

Dramatized History: Earth to the Moon, with Band of Brothers being there right along side.

  • No it is not, not by a long shot.

They currently control the lower house in the legislature and the Speaker of the House, 2nd in line for the presidency, is a lunatic that is one of the the worst.

They also control the Supreme Court. The fact that all it took for one geriatric woman to die is all it took for them to overturn over 50 years of reproductive rights for women in the U.S.

To paraphrase Tom Clancy: These fucking lunatics are a clear and present danger to everyone in the United States. They will not go away any time soon.

  • The first thing you need to know is Dacor only makes parts for its products for 2 years. If you need something replaced after that period, you are pretty much out of luck.

As to what broke, here goes:

Oven door handle (broke just after two years and the part was unavailable.)

Every igniter had to be replaced in the first two years.

The coil that powers the igniters. This died after the two year period, so I spent nearly 5 years lighting the burners using a lighter.
As an aside, there was only one coil powering all four igniters. If you didn't clean the range top properly and dry off the igniters, then only one would work. The Wolf has coils for each burner, so you don't have to worry about one igniter having less impedance than another.

The controller for the oven died twice. This, fortunately, was ONE part that was available past the two year period. I think they used the same board in the next model range. However, the nail in the coffin was at 6 years of age, it died again and the part was no longer available, permanently disabling the oven.

Various bits and bobs were either worn, or broken by the end.

Funny enough, the gas valves were the one thing that lasted the entire time it was in the house.
