The one way issue is very easily solved (isolated network), and on my model at least, all functionality is available. The app gives more, but everything I need is available on the buttons if I need it.
I actually really like my Bosch dishwasher + home connect. You can hook it up with home assistant, and use that to run the dishwasher when solar is working.
Local access would be nice, but homeconnect isnt that bad, and has been improving.
The problem with defining the rules rigidly, is that it ties the mods hands when a bad actor starts doing stuff that while technically is within the rules, is still bad faith.
If your willing to get into the weeds, most HVACs are very basic, and you can easily make your own thermostat with a cheap relay board.
That plus a microcontroller and some code (and/or homeassistant) and you can make it as smart as you like.
There are smarter thermostats, but they are usually more expensive.
100% agree on the ADF front. Logistics is supposed to be what the military is good at, and if responding to disasters is affecting their readiness, then we need to increase their resources.
I'm also 90% sure that if the ADF stopped doing emergency response, next budget cycle someone will push for reducing their excess headcount now that they are replaced by volunteers.
You might need to specify the wound placement. I'd change a dressing on a leg or a foot of a colleague or acquaintance, but if its a more sensitive area that might require an actual friend.
Can you go to a medical clinic or ER and get it changed?
Vigilantism is bad because of the slippery slope issue. It starts with solid proof, and then slowly declines towards "vibes", or fabrication of proof.
"Beyond reasonable doubt" is the high bar set by the legal system, and they have the processes in place to ensure that the bar is met before declaring guilt (its not perfect, but it is so far the best system we have).
If the proof is solid, and the law enforcement is functional, its better to hand it to them and let the system do its job. If the law enforcement isnt functional, vigilantism is all that is left, but you should strive to meet the "beyond reasonable doubt" bar. E.g is the evidence good, do you have the right person, could someone else be framing/manipulating the facts.
Yup, thats a huge if, especially amongst the younger people required for physical work like emergency services.
Its a pipe dream politically, but taxing our coal and gas industry to an inch of their life and using it to pay SES volunteers would be a nice start. Its pretty much established that they are responsible for the increased occurances of natural disasters, they should pay a part in cleaning them up. And I'll take my unicorn in pink....
Eh, if its a dangerous job that needs to be done, they should get paid. I dont care if the ADF has to expand, or some other paid arrangement needs to be setup, but relying on volunteers is just exploitation.
And if the ADF can't spare a few trucks worth of troops, how ready will they be if NZ pops over for a "special military operation"?
Yup, it is a raw food supplement, which I knew wheni suggested it. It means that OP can provide their own source of meat, which side steps the nestle issue.
I use something similar for my cat, and it seemed to solve her hypercalcemia. No more drugs required, her appetite rebounded and her energy levels recovered, and her weight is back to normal.
We used to use it with raw chicken, which had the interesting side effect of reducing her poops to once every two days, and significantly smaller and less smelly, and she got all her water intake from the chicken. With bird flu being a risk, we are now boiling the chicken first, and its mostly the same, but need more water for her.
They are portable touch screen monitors, and if your lucky, its at most a USB + HDMI to get the touch screen working. They'll also supply power to your SBC, which might help the portability aspect.
You can get similar portable monitors from Aliexpress as well.
Edit: just realised they now have WiFi. The nexpad has no WiFi, otherwise look for other portable monitors.
