Yeah, I agree there are levels to it but I'd rather just not have it in the game at all. If I pay $60 for a game I want the everything available to me, I don't want to have to treat a game like a part time job. Plus, we were guaranteed paid-for skins from the start and that's already stretching it.
You're agruing that a remake is not necessary but a remaster is fine. In an analogy similar to your own that's like saying you can't modernize the Mona Lisa, but it's fine if you put a new coat of paint over it.
🤷♂️ It's really just a matter of preference. Some people are looking for action packed moment-to-moment gameplay and others are looking for a more methodical relaxed atmosphere.
I think a bunch of devs thought that it would be nice to have some banter between the main character and a close confidant. I can see the concept working but you have to give the your protag and companion meaningful dialogue and establish a relationship the player would like to be in. Something that Forspoken and Atomic Heart in my opinion fail at pretty miserably. The main issue being that in both cases the protagonist is so negative towards their companion, like Frea and Dempsey (or whatever his name was) were both total assholes that made me not care for their stories.
Simple remaster, I'm sure fans of the series will be stoked but it doesn't really do much for me (someone unfamiliar with the series). Maybe I would have been more interested had it been a full on remake, modernizing level design and really bringing up the visuals to our standards of today.
I think my view on talking godhand games has soured too much after Forspoken and Atomic Heart. We need to stray from this topic/genre for a good long while.
Wouldn't be surprised if this game also had an awkward talking fridge, another strangely reoccurring theme in some of 2023's games.
$60 title. Paid-for battlepass. Paid-for cosmetics. overpriced nostalgia bait. they're one step away from paid-for randomized lootboxes with rigged percentages, and monetary personalization.
We really should have seen this coming though RE4R had MTX, and that was a fully single-player title, no one talked about it though because the RE4 following is full of cult-like extremists.
The issue is that it's a full $60 dollar title on top of the fact that the have $60 ninja turtle skins and a battlepass. They don't want to make good money, they want to make all the money.
Lots of great suggestions from others already, so I'll add some for when she's a bit older. I'd say when she grows up the Tomb Raider series would be great for her to play if you want a good female protagonist. And it may be too raunchy of a recommendation for a daughter, but if you want another good female protagonist I'd suggest Lolipop Chainsaw, a great game for when she becomes a teen if she keeps up the hobby. :)
