  • Proton Mail and VPN. I saw them advertised a lot when I was first getting into Linux, and it seemed like a great way to start the arduous task of degoogling my life. Its been several months now and my only complaint is setting up the VPN on Linux desktop, it works great on android ootb and the email and calandar service have everything I need. I can even easily share calandar invites with my wife who is still on google everything

  • When I was a kid I had a friend who'd call me the R slur pretty frequently. Besides ADHD Im basically nurotypjcal, he just meant to say I was being stupid. I kind of internalized it at the time and it gave me some self confidence issues about my intelligence, but I think that would've happened even if he wasn't using a slur.

  • I went on a similar journey but instead of being pulled back in by hades, for me it was risk of rain 2. Now I've played risk of rain returns, hollow knight, and I'm just starting to get better at noita. Dead cells and hades have been on my radar for years, just haven't had time to pull the trigger on them yet

  • The way to tell which ones are safe is to look up legal history for each company. When the home country of the company demands all the data they have, the companies are going to give all the data they have. So if a court order of a VPN yields nothing or almost nothing, then you know they really don't save any logs.

As someone else mentioned already, proton and mullvad are the good ones in, but that can change if either company gets bought out or changes management etc
