  • I love pangrams! I even have a list of all my favorite ones:

    • Fix problem quickly with galvanized jets
    • Amazingly few discotheques provide jukeboxes
    • My girl wove six dozen plaid jackets before she quit
    • who packed five dozen old quart jugs in my box
    • Jim quickly realized the beautiful gowns are expensive
    • The wizard quickly jinxed the gnomes before they vaporized
    • the quick onyx goblin jumps over the lazy dwarf
    • a wizards job is to vex chimps quickly in fog
    • Heavy boxes perform waltzes and jigs
    • A very big box sailed up then whizzed quickly from Japan
    • Jack quietly moved up front and seized the big ball of wax
    • The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog
    • A quick movement of the enemy will jeopardize six gunboats
    • Pack my box with five dozen liquor jugs
    • Grumpy wizards make a toxic brew for the jovial queen
  • I just want it to become more popular and easy to use while remaining free (like to buy, hot take I know) and libre.

I want it to be something I can endorse to all my friends, even the friends that almost never use computers and barely know what a filesystem is

my hope is that after this point of it being popular and accessable, FOSS principles will start to gain more traction in spaces like mobile phones and car head units. there will always be proprietary OS's and software, but in my ideal world FOSS is at least an equal competitor, not just a a niche thing that only super involved computer people get into

  • what are some examples of women tech centric content? I'm so entrenched in my own bubble that the only thing I can think of is maybe gaming? but even that winds up pretty male dominated afaik

  • a more literal translation: things are good, certainly in the name of God I speak the truth, believe me for I am extremely serious

cultural context: this level of reassurance is becoming necessary for many youths because buy and large things are usually not good lately

source: idk I made it up

  • I'm confused, can you describe the method you use directly? my only tool for dealing with people like this is ignoring them and cutting contact, it'd be nice to have some tools in case it happens to someone I actually like

  • the character in the last panel is the protagonist in the pilot episode of the web series "The Amazing Digital Circus" in which characters appear in a colorful digital world from which there is no escape. in the show, the characters appear without their memories, being unable to remember their names or how they got their beyond "putting on a headset" (presumably a vr style headset although this comic just uses headphones)

the joke in this comic is the suggestion that the protagonists job before the show was as a rent-a-girlfriend girl (basically an escort).

I'm honestly not sure why this would be considered funny as it seems unrelated to the show beyond using the character.

  • If their gonna go monkeys paw on my ass, it's gonna happen no matter how specific I get. you can't outsmart wish-granters, they literally bend fate to their will.

also sorry for nitpicking, but a real monkeys paw would be something like:

"the way you find out the winning lotto numbers is by a lawyer knocking on your door and saying your son died horrifically and he left you this lotto ticket in his will."

the numbers would get you your million dollar jackpot, your wish would be fully granted, you just won't want it anymore because of the price you paid for it. winning $50 from some granny's bingo Hall instead of the thing you actually wished for is hardly a consequence at all, more like a prank a genie would pull just to fuck with you. monkeys paws are more cruel than that.
