  • Because you want to avoid Diablo because Diablo, maybe you could get Diablo used on console, you don't need a Blizzard account or an internet connection and since it's used the money wouldn't go to Blizzard. It might be an option, depending on why you want to avoid Diablo.

  • Best I can do is 4 trillion, take it or leave it

  • I think the joke is that the Jr. Developer sits there looking at the screen, a picture of a cat appears, and the Jr. Developer types "cat" on the keyboard then presses enter. Boom, AI in action!

The truth behind the joke is that many companies selling "AI" have lots of humans doing tasks like this behind the scene. "AI" is more likely to get VC money though, so it's "AI", I promise.

  • Neville Chamberlain met with Hitler and judged him based on their one-on-one conversation. Chamberlain trusted Hitler based on this personal meeting and infamously predicted "peace for our time".

Winston Churchill had to judge Hitler based only on his actions, because he never met Hitler personally. Churchill did not trust Hitler.

Less than a year after Chamberlain's one-on-one meeting with Hitler, Hitler invaded Poland and began WW2.

Sometimes it's better to judge people based only on their actions as seen from afar.

  • The newcomer can start interviewing and have a raise in just a few weeks! The boss is right, he doesn't have to work years for a raise.

  • Wife's sad because you didn't buy her PC parts.

  • As long as AI isn't outlawed or "regulated" in some stupid way, open-source AI models will stay competitive. People are interested in AIs and working on them is exciting and doesn't require a lot of code or other bullshit, this is the type of thing that the open-source community will work on.

  • "Allowing entities other than us to control AI is dangerous. We must act!"

    -- Microsoft probably

I have no problem using the law to stop abusive deep fakes, but I do have a problem using the law to take AI away from regular people. Regular people need to be able to run their own AIs. All the worst outcomes involve taking AI away from regular people first.

  • As a big Outer Wilds fan, is there any other game in the genre you like better?

I believe Outer Wilds is one of the best games ever made, because it's the best execution of it's genre (exploration / mystery games). I accept the genre might not be for everyone, but I'm not aware any better games in the genre.

  • Outer Worlds should not be confused with Outer Wilds. Outer Wilds is one of the best games ever because it's the best execution of it's genre.

  • Doesn't look bad, but I'm guessing it doesn't have a haptic touchpad? (Clicking is equally easy anywhere on the touchpad, because there isn't actually a click, the click is simulated by a vibrator.)

  • Imagine a world where everyone goes to sleep as soon as they are done with work, and saves their groggy end-of-day hours for work. Unfortunately, society has chosen the opposite.

  • I wanted a fast laptop without a fan and with a big haptic feedback touchpad. Happy to hear about non-Apple options for this.

  • There was a research paper that took a variety of weaker LLMs and randomly asked each one to generate the next word, and it actually turned out really well.

  • If that doesn't work, sometimes your computer just needs a rest. Take the rest of the day off and try it again tomorrow.

  • If the emergency door is closed you might have to wait until the plane is in flight.
