  • Are we sure they don't mean "other people's religions" when they agree?

  • "Israeli Government Advertising Agency" Is this a lost in translation situation? Does it mean something more like "Government Communications"? Because a government having an agency blatantly dedicated to propaganda is.. well it's bold. But it could be me misreading what is meant by advertising.

  • I think it's very important that we still have brick and mortar stores. Especially the smaller and more independent ones. It's not a good world to live in when our goods distribution is handled by one or two insanely large megacorps. And online access can be revoked at the whim of the parent company. It's super convenient when Amazon has anything I want to buy (or a knock off :/ ) and I can click a button and in a few days it arrives, but it really feels bad to using that. I know amazon employees are treated like dirt. I know it's terrible for the environment for me to having items individually shipped to my house. And I don't get to go out and laugh or joke with the employees of the shops. And it does nothing for the economy of the place I live.

I really don't think Bookstores are a waste of space.

  • It's just like putting a blanket over a bird cage. The baby will instinctively calm and go to sleep.

  • Honestly I imagine right wingers in most countries would rather see our species die out altogether rather than see people be receiving money like this. Edit: replaced "conservatives" with "right wingers" because I don't believe the current extreme right-wing attitudes represent conservatives anymore.

  • This is exactly the sort of thing I'm looking for, thank you!

  • They said wrong answers only

  • The face that said "Well. It's food. I guess."

  • Even if only 10% of plastic gets recycled, it's still a lot of plastic that doesn't end up in the landfills or incinerators. It's still good to do. Only now we know we still have to demand more regulation on the companies who produce it all and not accept another recycling campaign in place of real action.

  • It was always an empty gesture designed from the start to put the onus on the general population so that plastic could still be produced and sold at ever increasing rates without any responsibility for its outcome. This is also why the least effective part of reduce, reuse, recycle was always emphasized.

  • "dedicating the equivalent of 34,000 full-time engineers to what has become the single largest cybersecurity engineering project in the history of digital technology,"

What does this mean? Are they having it done by 50,000 part timers? Or are they just asking bing chat to churn out security solutions for them?

  • Hey! Welcome to beehaw! It is a smaller instance than kbin, but it's more selective with who is a member so there are pros and cons if you vibe with those that are here I suppose. I also have subscribed to a bunch of communities from lemmy.ca and most of them also say subscription pending, but I still get the posts from those places in my feed so it seems to be working? Idk I would chalk that up to a little jank.

What I did here was just subscribed to all of the communities so that I don't miss out and my feed doesn't stagnate. Idk if that would work for you. It's difficult to make a suggestion for someone looking for "friends and fun" since we don't really know much about what you'd find fun or what kind of friends you are looking for. Hopefully as you make posts and replies you will find your people here!

  • This is where in a sane world independent journalists would see allegations like these and properly investigate and bring us the truth of the matter. But we don't live in a world where that happens often anymore.
