It must be cool to be on the side of death & disability for the largest human catastrophe in your life time. Also one million percent you were not lockdowning and masking for two years straight.
You absolutely can take off and reuse a mask. Ideally one should be replacing it daily. But don't let perfection be the enemy of the good.
But the media mentions it like its the only solution.
The scientist in this article also critiques the government for lack of reporting and failing to give boosters to most adults, so I don't think this is fair.
Dunno, but the vibe on this comment is "I'm not gonna wear a mask because it has to be perfect, so I'm not going to bother." Sorry if I read this wrong.
NGL the data is really confusing, since there's no much research out there and it's really hard to structure a perfect study during a deadly pandemic. But generally N95s will reduce your risk by 70% or more, while surgicals will reduce it by less than 30%. If you make sure to do a fit test, a N95 is going to protect well above 90%. The main issue with N95 failure is with leakage, if your mask leaks then it will be much less effective.
I'm sure you're probably aware that the surgical ones don't protect you much, they're mostly a cheap and easy way to keep asymptomatic infected people from spreading the disease to others. If everyone was doing surgicals, it'd be great. But if you're the only one who masks, they don't filter for your too well.
N95s and FFP2s have a long history of development, they've been protecting workers from dangerous dusts for decades, and the science of how they work is really solid. Again, please ask for my sources if you're interested.
For my summer holiday, I read books in the park and played video games. No travel or anything. I don't want to be super negative, but after I really can't stand to be around travelers right now.
So according to some research, COVID infections cause a lot of problems with your immune system and actually increase the likelihood of getting other infections. I can link the studies is you're interested. Have you gotten COVID yet? What kind of mask are you wearing?
I wear an N95 everywhere and I haven't had a respiratory infection since 2019.
Libs think that I'm full of shit, but I was right about the war on terror, right want global warming, and FFS I'm right about what the mainstream medical research is stating.
All your dammed fecking informed critique of Western media. Can't I just enjoy this BBC documentary about [normal thing that literally happens everywhere but bad in China] in peace?
I gotta say, N95s done right are much more comfortable then cloth and surgical masks. I just didn't know at the start of the pandemic.
