Your interpretation is much stronger than the report: 'but remained “seriously concerned about reported instances of the use of coercive measures, including forced abortion and forced sterilization, with a view to limiting births”'. I'm not even saying that it isn't happening. But if it was a massive problem, you'd think there'd be more than reports. There are mobile phones and foreign tourists in Xinjiang, it's not like the government would be able to forcibly abort 10% of babies there without someone taking a smartphone video of the abortion police coming to their home.
I applaud OP for the the citations and research. I appreciate his linking to the UNHRC report, but nowhere in that report does it mention "genocide". I'd honestly like people to compare it to multiple UNHRC reports on US treatment of its black population.
I'm no expert, maybe China is taking an overly heavy hand in Xinjiang. But to call it a genocide when no evidence exists for mass killing, and when the US war on terror lead to 5 million actual deaths, is absurd projection and and diminishes the value of the word "genocide".
As someone who never used outside apps (maybe I should have), the mobile app was OK a year ago but it's barely usable now. I'm unsure if their code base is falling apart or they're not paying their server cost. But feck it's bad.

I sent him a few 3 message to see how he was doing. NGL we weren't super tight before COVID, we never hung out outside of work, and people not masking around me really drove a wedge between us. I'm trying hard not to justify what happened, but who knows maybe I am a little bit.
I had a workmate develop a chronic illness after an infection of COVID, and he had to leave under hardship. People that hung out with him as best mates for years stopped talking to him in a matter of days.
Honestly it's cool. Personally I try to be very objective, scientific, and factual about stuff, but I've 100% been wrong about things in the past. I think the measure of a person is their ability to admit a mistake in the face of irrefutable evidence against their POV.
There are better vaccines and antivirals coming out of the research pipeline. There are generics for Paxlovid coming on the market. In the short-term, mask and ventilate.
