I agree, but what do you do about that? I'm not out here geo-engineering albedo shit to still climate change.
So where does the blame go? I think at status quo Dem leadership when people are genuinely anxious and struggling. Maybe Kamala did the best she could for who she is, but the DNC should have been retired when Obama won
We tried in Oregon. The real problem is that both Democrat establishment and Republican establishment hate RCV because it diminishes their power. It may be time for progressives to separate from Dems a bit more at local and state levels. Look at Osborn in NE
If this shift is both A)right and B) representative across states, Harris is looking at over 400 electoral votes on Tuesday. I feel crazy just typing that
Maybe this is overly generous, but I kind of feel like Elon genuinely believes he's a special genius who can "save" the world and usher in a nominally benevolent techno-oligarchy with him at the helm.
So he supports trump because a) trump will let him do whatever he wants without regulation or enforcement, and b) Harris won't, and she might take a look at his accounting and government contracts.
I posted twice, automod got one of them, but the other was gloriously empowering. Can recommend 8/10
Edit: I'm definitely a lurker though. We have value and votes, and are important to the ecosystem!
Honestly, me too and I don't have much of a plan. I tried doing some pushups the other day and was shocked how much capacity I've lost. Following the wisdom that the hardest part of a run is lacing up your shoes, i'm just telling myself to do something every day. 3 sets of pushups. Squats during ad breaks. Walk to the store for a snack. That kind of thing
A little bit of physical activity is a great distraction from the anxiety in my head
I'm a big fan of Khan's efforts, but I don't know that I'm ready to judge Harris for not giving her a full-throated defense. Her campaign is extraordinarily disciplined and focused in their topics and messaging, and digressing to FTC appointments could easily not be advantageous. I hope Harris wins and Khan is even more empowered for the sake of our country, but the crap of FPTP reality is that Harris simply Has to win
I'm absolutely stressed. I already voted, which didn't help at all. I might need to unplug and dissociate for a few weeks just to get over 5 hours of sleep in a go
Locally, yes. Solar (and wind) energy isn't uniform in timing or location, so when there's too much of it relative to consumption, there needs to be a profitable way to use it rather than just dumping it into resistive heating or letting the panels wear out faster at open circuit.
Desalination is a pretty good idea since places with high solar resources also tend to be poorer in water resources. The challenge is the capital costs of desalination plants and competition with existing water sources - water rights are a giant ratfuck by themselves. I think it'll make sense to build desalination plants that can absorb excess energy generation, but if there's even political will for it, they'll take a lot of time to build up
Did they at least give you a cut of the spend? Maybe that should be a rule - 10% of the money spent on political ad buys is distributed evenly to all the poor schmucks who have to get bombarded by them!
