  • We used a pharmacy that was inside of the regional grocery store we use that was owned by the grocery store. They recently contracted that part of the business out to Walgreens. My wife got strep and bronchitis and got a prescription that we had filled there. They tool litterally all day to fill it despite being told it would take two hours. The only way to speed it up was to sit in a grocery store with communicable illness for an hour. They encouraged her to do that.

  • I don't think it has anything to do with the end of the world.

(This is going to sound bad. Worse than i really mean it to) I think it comes from society's increasingly inability to enforce social etequite. Faux pas are not "punished" resulting worse faux pas.

The tricky part is where do we draw the line and who defines it?

  • There are several reasons why I ignore anything crypto related.

    • The barrier to entry is daunting. Where do I buy it that isn't going to scam me? Where do I store it that isn't going to just steal it? How do I use it?
    • Almost everytime I hear about it, it is related to a scam. I recieve texts from strangers wanting to scam me with it. I read about people like Bankman-Fried being seemingly legit but then stealing it. I read about Musk's on-again/off-again love for Doge and it feels like just a way to pump up his own investment that would be illegal of it were normal investments.
    • The freedom it gives you to get what you need is the same freedom that allows organized crime, terrorist organizations, and sanctioned countries avoid scrutiny a lot easier.
    • Most are a risky investment. The price swings greatly on the biggest ones and never goes up on most of the others. The only ones that don't seem to have that problem are the ones that peg their value to a real currency.
  • As a homeowner, there is nothing to be ready for. Nothing has value unless you're trying to buy or sell it and I'm doing neither in the near/medium future regardless of the price of my home. I bought before prices went stupid so I feel like it is unlikely any crash will do the value to below what I paid.

  • I didn't watch Steve-o's own show but were there any Jackass skits where they accosted sometime who wasn't in their crew? Some of them happened in public but they were still members of the crew being stupid and filming the publics reaction from afar.

That said, maybe I'm forgetting a skit?

  • Ignoring any spoofing concerns, in the US biometrics aren't universally covered under the 5th ammendment so police can force you to unlock your devices if they are secured with them vs a password.

    https://www.concordlawschool.edu/blog/constitutional-law/fifth-amendment-biometrics/

If you have evidence of illegal things on your devices this isn't something you'll want. If you don't have any evidence on your devices this is something you still shouldn't want.

  • That is a good read but I'm going to muddy the waters a bit.

I'll start off with saying I understand this is fiction and doesn't necessarily directly fit into real life.

In the US military the ranks Captain, Commander, and General don't exist in the same rank structure. Captain and General exist in every structure except the Navy and Coast Guard which have Commander and Captain. In the former, Captain is an O3 and General could be an O7 through O10. In the latter a Commander is an O5 and and Captain is an O6.

So at the end of ANH Luke as either an O3 or O6 and in RotJ he had separated. Han in ANH was and O5 and later jumped structures and was an O7.

  • Either I'm misremebering things or everyone else is.

If i remember correctly, part of his deal to become Speaker was reducing the number of Reps required to force a vote for a new Speaker to one. Meaning any single member can force votes for a new Speaker. You know if he negotiates with Dems one of the crazies in his own party will force voting on a new Speaker.
