  • I was typing up a reply and realized this said most of what I was saying. The only thing I'd add is that support matters, popularity matters. Supported or popular HW platforms are less likely to have small random niggles than an off the shelf dell laptop. System 76 or tuxedo lines are ideal supported platforms. Think pads area super popular.

PopOS or Mint are as easy to use as ubuntu, but without being chained to snaps, which everyone is moving towards flatpaks except canonical

  • So, I'm not sure if skyrim is right for this because it's had a certain modding community built up, and for whatever reason, corporate execs seem to love burning down organic communities with no idea of the damage they're doing.

However, if a game was built from day 1 to have support for paid mods, I'd probably consider making assets for mods as a side gig, as would a lot of people who work in tech or are budding game developers, because its far less of a commitment than making a full game.

The closest things that do this currently are roblox, which does everything in it's power to prevent you from withdrawing money from it, and second life, which is near dead and only still going because of furies and perverts.

If a true platform-esque game, like Skyrim or Arma, were to come along with a shop that would let you do things like build a dungeon and charge a dollar for it, that would suddenly look attractive to a lot of people to get involved.

  • They did but no longer do. The owners may still personally, but if you were to dig into the owners of every company you'd probably come to the conclusion that there is no ethical consumption under capitolism.

  • I think a lot of the comments here mischaracterize chik fil a as another shitty burger joint in a way that would be confusing to people that never seen one. They make really good chicken sandwiches because chicken sandwiches is almost the only thing they make. While most fast food joints might have 1-3 people running it during non-peak hours, chic fil a constantly has a small army in there. I don't even know how so many people stay busy but that crazy looking line pictured will be cleared out in under 10 minutes.

  • I have a little bit of schadenfreude at the PS fan club moaning about exclusives, since their whole system is built around exclusives.

But in the end the point stands, exclusives (from anyone) are bad for consumers.

  • I mean, it's per personal life, who the fuck cares? She's a shitty representative for all kinds of reasons just based on what she does in congress. This all feels very "gotcha"-ish, as if in some congressional office some democratic staffer was just giddy about releasing this to the public. Maybe I'm burnt out on it all but I have no appetite for this kind of politics anymore.

  • Zuck is relatively a beginner and only recently got his BJJ blue belt - the first colored belt you get in BJJ. That being said, it still take a year or two to get a blue belt, and at that rank he'd be expected to submit a larger untrained person, which is exactly what musk is.

  • 1st is planned murder

2nd is a non planned heat of the moment kind of murder

3rd is you do some criminally wreckless crap and accidentally kill someone

manslaughter is any other kind of accidentally killing someone
