  • It's especially sad because he had empirical evidence washing his hands worked! New birth death rates dropped and when he eventually opened his own practice death rates were the lowest ever seen. Though he got bitter and angry towards the end which lead to being put in the psych ward. Honestly though, if you knew people were killing babies by negligence and were an empathetic person you'd probably end up the same way regardless of who you are.

IIRC, the hand wash was a chlorine one that was pretty rough on the skin so people didn't like to do it. Additionally to accept what he said Dr.s would have to accept they have been killing babies this whole time. I believe one Dr. Agreed with Sammelwise and killed himself because that knowledge haunted him so.

  • I do photography and have thousands of photos, I have like actually 10 of myself, and those were mostly taken by my friend with the intent of putting on dating apps.

Online dating has evercerated my self confidence though. So I just detest photos of myself ever more.

  • One of the features I thought it could be wicked useful for is printer clarity. When scanning or copying bad/old papers, hand written, etc. It could clean up, focus, or turn handwriting to print. That would actually be a good use for it IMO, ofc it'll fuck shit up sometimes but it'll probably be better than nothing at all

  • So trail mixes are kinda based around this IIRC, the nuts get processed slower for longer energy and the sugary bits (raisins n such) are fast energy for the now. So when hiking or doing such activities you can boost your sugar levels immediately as well as have them maintain as the foods are processed.

  • I was once I Huston for a bit visiting friends. I, a very white child was staying with my friends's family who were very dark skinned. Friend's mother took us to the local library where we got a TON of sideways glances. One person was staring quite intensely to which my friend's mother looked directly at them them and said "what, you never seen a black family adopt a white boy before?"

To this day I find it just hilarious. She's the best

  • If CEOs legally must do what benefits the shareholders, than cutting millions in employment costs by swapping CEOs with AI is now their legal obligation

(Probably won't happen, but I can dream!)

  • I had a DM who set up a puzzle room, tiles on the floor with arrow traps. It ended up being the fibonacci sequence however, it started like, 15 digets in and none of us players knew which were correct. (didn't wanna meta game and google it) So we just Dex rolled across the whole floor and were super wounded after. The next room over was a boss fight -_-

We probably weren't supposed to be so wounded going in.

  • Although I like the concept, I just don't see a world where UBI does anything helpful. Unless people are able to just not work and all goods are human free/automated. Otherwise companies' products and housing will rise to meet what they now know you have in income. Give everyone $1k and prices will rise to consume that $1k so you just end up feeding tax dollars into companies mouths. Pay for it by taxing the companies and they will increase prices till they hit the sweet spot intersection of cost/value, but people will still be at a negative because some of that resource pool gets eaten by government management of the UBI system.

May as well do what we used to and tax companies more and put that into social services, at least companies can't squeeze that from us.
