  • I’d say no. Regardless of it being stolen or not, the amount of damage done with no (read: few?) checks and balances does not present the US as a democracy at all.

It should have been impossible, but he and his team have found and abused every single legal loophole there is and it does not seem like the majority of politicians are interested in fixing them.

It’s not trust inspiring when one person can write a presedential order overuling a literal constitunional amendment.

I don’t hate Americans. Most are great people, but I do hate their rotten to the core political system.

  • I try to stay out of American politics because I get that my views are probably skewed being in Europe, but I do see his approval ratings close to and sometimes above 50% on certain areas.

Without telling you what to do about it, I must admit it scares me to think that there are millions of people agreeing with what he's doing. It feels like the US is a preassure cooker only just getting started, slowly inching towards a disastrous explosion.

What are the realistic potential outcomes of everything going on?

  • As a Jellyfin-fanboy: you are right. Plex is easier to deal with out of the box.
Anything else would not make any sense for a paid service.

I'd say though, if you dedicate the time to set it up correctly, it is an equally good solution and it's free.
If time is a factor in your life, then there is no shame in paying for something that just works. It's why I have a Synology NAS and not a self-built Unraid or OMV server.

  • The ability to watch from anywhere.

Install on the Jellyfin server and share that server (or just the IP with the Jellyfin port) with whoever you want. Now they have access to Jellyfin and Jellyfin only.
That's how I set stuff up for friends and family.

  • Almost everything, finally!
    OS: GrapheneOS
    Calendar: Proton
    Browser: Firefox
    Storage: NAS
    Youtube: NewPipe and SmartTube

I’m still stuck with Maps and Android in my car as it has Android Automotive, but I’m happy with my progress so far

  • My man, you are literally getting paid to spend time with a tiny human being you helped make. You’d have to be pretty deep into the Kool-aid bottle to say no to that.

I had my mandatory 15 weeks last year and loved it, so from one dad to another: enjoy it!

And remember: if you die tomorrow, you’ll be replaced at work within a few weeks, but you can never ever be replaced at home.

  • Yeah I’m Norwegian so only an EEA member as well. I consider Europe as one, regardless of EU membership.
We’re still brothers even though we haven’t joined yet.
Let us keep some control over our coastline to avoid over fishing and I would strugle to find good arguments not to join in the future. We already follow most directives anyways.

  • That I don’t know.

I subscribe to hers and she to mine, but we just made them the same color so the one who ads stuff first is the one that stays, if that makes sense.

No downsides for me, really. It does what it’s supposed to do and it’s not Google.

If your still on the fence, then I can test editing both ways tomorow. Just let me know. Had a busy day today.

  • For me it is nothing. I don’t use the VPN and I own my domain, so I keep that if I ever change providers. The calendar works fine.

Ethically I have accepted that a comment was made by someone that should not have been shared, but I also accept that there is not a single company in the world where there are zero people with whom I agree 100%. The only difference is they don’t tweet about it. I am only fooling myself if I think changing providers will make any difference. Maybe the CEO of the next provider is a racist wifebeater…

Their service has been excellent, it’s European which I aim to support and their security is heavily scriutinzed as it’s open source. I sleep well giving them money for an great service.

  • I agree, but want to add Portainer. Compose in Portainer takes away the scary SLI/Terminal part.

At least for me, hosting stuff went from «I have no idea what I’m doing» to «This sort of makes sense».

  • Yeah I’m glad I waited as long as I did and purchased the best I could out of the box.

The amount of tinkering the old Creality at work has needed over the years…
I wouldn’t have lasted long with that at home.

Super happy with our Bambu. It just prints nicely and just works every time.
Before people get mad at me for having a Bambu: I bought it before the UA changed and it’s in LAN mode with no internet. Hardware is great even though the company is a little shady these days.

  • Does this apply if you use extraction?

I’ve had induction for many years, but I really want a combo with both. Making wok on induction is crap as the sides don’t get hot at all. I also have a hot spot in the center of all frying pans which is annoying when frying bigger things or several things at once.

My dream is a Gaggenau or Bora top with one side induction and one side gas. I already have the mid extractor with outside piping, so no recirculation.
I just cannot justify the $10k price tag and nobody else makes it with a fan in the middle.
